Greetings!
I have friends who are quite interested in this. . .area?...and I am curious to know what it is that draws them in so deeply! I know many of the members here will have a much more serious and avid interest in it--so I do not profess to be a huge fan or expert. So, if am I completely oblivious to certain things, forgive me, and please correct me! The whole idea behind being on here is to get a better understanding of RPG's and the like.
I'm a very busy creature, so I won't be on constantly or perhaps even consistently. I'll try to reply asap.
Regardless of whether it's an RPG genre (does that even work?) or not, my favorite characters in anything are frequently femme fatales. ;D
Look forward to hearing from everyone!

Nice to meet you.
I can only answer for myself. What draws me in is the lure of interactive story telling. There is just something fun about running a story or playing as a character in a story.
MURPG is nice because the fact that it is diceless makes it easy to play online.
If you ever decide to play I am sure your Femme Fatales would be a welcome addition to many games.

Thanks for the response. I kind of like the idea of interactive story telling too--my stories just are usually as geeky (a term I use positively, of course). By geeky, I mean containing mages, trolls, turrets or AK47's!
It took me a moment to process "diceless," I'm ashamed to say!

Don't be ashamed, Role Playing Games have a little lingo that you will get used to in no time. Here are a few terms to get you started. Twink, Twinkie, or Munchkin A player that uses rules to his or her advantage to have the best possible character. Often used in a negative fashion to indicate someone who cares about game mechanics more than character. Rules Lawyer Someone who plays by the rules no matter what, and will often argue their own interpretation of the rules to their advantage. Min Maxer A player who tends to make characters who are very good at one thing and very bad at others. A character that is physically powerful but dumb as a brick may be a min/maxed character. Monty Haul An RPG game where the GM is very free and easy about giving out rewards and treasure. Often these games can be very fun in the short range, but they often get stale quickly. EDIT But they can be very fun short games, it is the RPG equal to a popcorn movie. Hack and Slash A combat focused style of gameplay, that is often short on story but full of action.

I look forward to exploring the femme fatale aspect.
Also, thanks for the lingo lesson, raynorn!

Welcome, slk!
I love telling stories in general, and this gives me an arena to tell and experience stories with a group of great like minded folk. That's why I do RPGs. I tend to shy away from video game RPGs, even though the stories are great, it's the interaction that makes RPGing awesome for me, personally.
On curiosity, you may need to try it out to really 'get' the appeal, so to speak. And, honestly, this is a great place to try it out. A lot of other systems have a lot more rules to learn.
Happy gaming!

I may be asking you for help. I am designing a game system (Three Hats) and my selling points are that it is quick to design a character & is easy to learn for first time role players. . . at least I think it is easy to learn for first time role players.

My first instinct on this is one of fear! haha I'd be up for it. As for my background, I've played 2 RPG's in person before, Shadow Run and a western version of Role Master. The first--Shadow Run--I played almost entirely based on the suggestions of the friends I was playing with. I grew a bit bored of that one because I didn't really have any idea what was going on. However, in Role Master, I decided on a whim to rob a bank and accidentally killed my "sister!" Beginner's luck? hahaha Those were both in person though, so it would be interesting to give this a shot.

Oh, honey, if you can play Shadowrun, you can definitely pick up MURPG. No sweat! Beside, even if you don't get it right away, you've got an awesome support group here. Just PM if you have any questions!
