Character finalized by GM, so this time I include background and full stats...
John Corbin was born somewhere in Colorado on an Indian Reservation. When he was old enough to perform his Rite of Manhood, he went out on a spirit quest to find his Totem, and was answered by the great ThunderBird. This experience led to his Mutant powers becoming active, and he returned to his tribe a 'man', but not the man they would have expected. His skin had turned into a grey-blue stonelike color. The tribe rejected him, sending him away, and John found his way into the White Man's cities where he was immediately hunted down by those that saw him, and was only kept alive by the intervention of Storm and Jean Grey who had been sent by Professor X.
From the moment their eyes first met, Jean has felt a strong dislike and distrust for John. The feeling was very mutual, and neither of them can explain it. Though they share many of the same powers, John is alot more physical, and thus mentally weaker than Jean, and has grown to have a strong liking for Storm. He's been living in the Xmen Mansion for the past 4 years now and the Professor feels he's ready to join a new X-Team.
John has doubts though, because he can feel something inside of him, and for this reason, actually avoids using his mental powers for more than the most light-weight activities, not even allowing his telepathic abilities do more than simple communication.
[Legend has been shared by the ThunderBird and The Phoenix. The Phoenix is the incarnation of Earth and Fire, she sleeps in the Earth and is reborn from her ashes into a being of Fire. ThunderBird of the Native American Indians is a bird that is the incarnation of Air and Water. It sleeps in the Ocean and is reborn from the water into a being of Air. What Legend doesn't tell us is that the 2 beings are in a cycle. The only reason they can not battle is because Air can't invade Earth as Fire can't invade Water, so the one only exists when the other has left.]

The Phoenix/Thunderbird story was my GM's idea, kinda helping me be even more paranoid about using my powers. Explains partially why someone who can fly is such a daredevel-level acrobat.
