-Works as Mental Defense and Fear Defense.
Wealth: 3
CHALLENGES
-Pride (-2; Miles Edgeworth is a really proud man; proud of his accomplishments, of his countless successful trials as a Prosecutor, of his ability to bring the truth to light. He does not take insults lightly and expects people to treat him as respectfully as he treats them. Also, he will sometimes have a difficult time admitting that he does, in fact, needs help from time to time.)
-Mild obsession (-1; to succeed, to win. While he has gotten over this obsession somewhat thanks to Phoenix Wright, and has now more noble, more important goals, Miles Edgeworth still loves to win. While he won't cheat to get to his goals, he will certainly do everything in his power to succeed at whatever it is he's doing, wether in court or elsewhere.)
-Duty (-3; uncover the truth. Since recently, Edgeworth has changed his ways from "ruthless Prosecutor" to "relentless seeker of the truth". He will stop at nothing, except illegal or unjust ways [unless there really is no other option and not doing so would have terrible consequences] to find the truth, unmask the real culprit, and clear an innocent's name from suspicion.)
-Not a people person (-1; Edgeworth will not easily seek the company of others, unless he needs to. He would prefer much more reading a book in a comfortable armchair, all by himself, listening to Mozart or Chopin, than to, say, hang around with a friend or two. That's why he often seems cold and aloof, while in reality, he is just not used to be at ease and just enjoy life like normal people do, and he hates to show his weaknesses to anyone.)
-Psychological (-2; fear of elevators, and earthquakes. Edgeworth's father, Gregory Edgeworth, was murdered in an elevator, right next to a 9 years old Miles, after being trapped in said elevator for hours because of an earthquake. This event left him afraid of both elevators and earthquakes, the only things that can actually "shake" him.)
-Rival (-2; to Phoenix Wright, a defense attorney. While both are good friends and work for truth and justice, their profession makes them frequent opponents in court, and both will work twice as hard to "defeat" the other, until one can prove that the other is wrong, in which case they will usually work together for the greater good. This rivalry started mostly because Wright was the first, and only, person to ever defeat Edgeworth in a trial.)
EQUIPMENT
-Nobleman clothes
-Cellphone
-Forensics kit
-Pocket Watch
-Investigator's gloves
-Evidence kit
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STORY: Miles Edgeworth, son of the late Gregory Edgeworth, a highly skilled Defense Attorney, has become known to the world as a prodigy, the top Prosecutor in America. The protégé and student of the legendary prosecutor Manfred Von Karma, Edgeworth was initially as ruthless and devastatingly efficient as his mentor, always managing to get a "Guilty" verdict against anyone he faced in trial, caring nothing about wether or not the defendant was actually guilty or not, obessed only with winning and maintaining his perfect record.
This changed at the trial of Maya Fey, wrongly charged with the murder of her older sister, Mia. Miles Edgeworth faced his childhood friend, Phoenix Wright, now a gifted Defense Attorney, in a difficult trial theat ended with Wright's success and Edgeworth's first failure. This event would mark the beginning of a serious rivalry between the two.
Eventually, after several other trials and events (including the death of Manfred Von Karma, his former mentor who was revealed to be the murderer of Miles' father), Edgeworth left America to "find himself". He travelled the world, prosecuting in five other countries, rethinking his methods and his beliefs until he returned, changed. Gone was the Miles Edgeworth entirely obsessed with winning at all costs, no matter wether the defendant was innocent or guilty. Now, he seeked the truth... to punish the guilty, and free the innocents. Just like his old friend Wright.
But he'd do things his way.
**********
Miles Edgeworth is a complex man. He is mostly fearless, but earthquakes and elevators frighten him more than a gun to his face. He is good at dealing with people, but he would rather be alone than do so. He can be a formidable ally one day, and a terrible opponent the next, depending on wether or not you are on trial. But no matter what, he will always seek the truth and do everything in his power to make sure that whoever ends up in jail deserves it... and that those who deserve it end up in jail.
