Princess Diana was the only daughter of Queen Hippolyta and the only baby ever born on the Amazon Island of Themyscira. She was born when, under advice from an oracle, her mother produced a baby out of clay and it was given life by the goddesses, each blessing her with great power. She was named after Diana Trevor, a woman who bravely defended the island from invaders, and raised by an island of teachers and sisters. When Themyscira required a champion against the god of war, Ares, Diana entered against her mother’s wishes (in disguise) and won, becoming the new champion. When Steve Trevor, the son of the aforementioned Diana Trevor, crash-landed on Themyscira, Diana was taken to Patriarch’s World, as part of Ares’ own evil plot. Since then, Diana has served admirably as the ambassador to Themyscira, and as a member on the Justice League. She died and was reborn as the Goddess of Truth, only to have her mother take her place. However, after her mother’s death to save the universe, she yet again took on the mantle of Wonder Woman. She is one of the most powerful, and bravest, heroes in the DC Universe.
