~Eyes glow when he uses his powers
Eugene was bullied as a child. His burgeoning intellect, more than passing interest in DC comics, and overall difference made him a target to bigger, dumber kids. One day, several of those big dumb kids decided to corner Eugene in some secluded place and, once again, assert their physical dominance over him. Things didn't turn out very well for them that day because, you see, Eugene's powers emerged. In a fit of fury, Eugene sent out a wave of telekinetic force into his bullies, injuring them severely and knocking them out. All the kids at school, and even the teachers, thought that he had simply fought back, and beaten them up. After the suspension, things got better for Eugene. The bullies were too afraid of him to say anything, and the rest of the school treated him differently. Eugene wasn't about to announce that he had just developed superpowers though, even to his parents. So, he learned to control his powers, breezed through school, and eventually took on the guise of Impulse, to help those who were too weak or afraid to stand up for themselves.
Things were rocky at first, especially because he was attending college at the time, but he eventually found his way, and made his name in the scientific world for his genius, and in the world of heroes, for his surprising power.
But, Eugene's activities were unwittingly disrupting the designs of a very powerful organization and, until very recently, he had no idea. Right now, he only knows that very powerful people want Impulse dead, and if he doesn't find out who they are... well, bad things will happen.
So, what do you think?
