I'm the opposite- the movie is what sparked my interest in the character, and while I've developped a firm liking for him... The movie is where that started, so <shrug>

I started liking Daredevil after playing a pre-pub for the old Marvel Heroes game from TSR where I got stuck playing him because I showed up last. It was called "Lone Wolves" or something like that (stupid name, since you end up working as a team). I've never been a big fan of Daredevil in practice, but I really like the theory of the character. He's much like Batman in that I feel for every good story I've ever read with him, there are fourteen steaming piles of crap. It feels like there is very little consistency in writing the character, which is frustrating.
As a general rule, one of the frustrations that keeps me from liking characters over time is when I'm constantly reminded that they are "low powered" and/or "street level" and/or "gritty"... and then every other year or so there is a major story arc where the Avengers come knocking on said character's door because somehow, that "low powered" character is the ONLY ONE THAT CAN SAVE THE UNIVERSE! It ends up being that the only real reason these characters are "street level" is because despite obviously being on the level of guys like Captain American and Hawkeye, they choose to fight ninja muggers in dark alleys.
This "Batman syndrome" has largely poisoned my love of comics overall, along with a dozen other little toxic elements.

I see where you are coming from but I can usually ignore most of the asshattery enough to still enjoy a good amount of comics - unless they do something really off the wall (I am no currently up to date on anything due to funds). To be honest though, I think the best stuff out right now is the non hero stuff - Fables, Preacher, Judge Dredd, etc. I am also a fan of the Miles spidey too. I do believe there are still good writers out there doing good works but in general stories/arcs/runs/etc are hit and miss.

I like the trailer, though I'm going to get tired of Daredevil's "makeshift" costume very quickly if they don't break out the real suit.

I know I'm a nitpicker, but WTF is up with Foggy Nelson's hair?
About the suit, I was relieved to at least see that his dad's boxing robe was roughly the right colour. Could be a sign that we'll see a proper suit eventually.
Looks watchable. I'm still definitely tuning in.

My "best case scenario" with respect to the suit is that we get the "real" suit in the last few episodes/it's teased at the end and he's in it for the remainder of his appearances as Daredevil within the MCU. At the very least, it would be nice to see some color on this.
Everything else looks great, though. But it sounds like the "they have more in common than they think" bit extends to Batman-voice, too.
Shazam, where did you see Elektra? And I do hope characters like Bullseye and Elektra show up; the series lasts for 13 episodes and it'll run pretty thin if they don't have more going on than what looks to be the primary arc.

She's the ninja in that one scene kicking Dardevil, notice that the ninja is wearing Red, so I'm running on assumptions but I just can't see Elektra running around in essentially leather underwear in this universe.
Edit: I honestly think the costume is appropriate given that this is his first foray, we can't all be Tony Stark...which reminds me, nice reference at the end.

Do you have a timestamp? Daredevil looks like he's getting his ass kicked a lot in this series based on that trailer.

yeah I'm getting about 1:26 for the scene; also just found out the Owl is in the trailer too...that might be the Owl, the guy making references to Thor and Iron Man

Would be great if that is Elektra, although it's hard to tell because everything's so dark! Looking at the Wikipedia page, there's also a character called "Hachido" played by Peter Shinkoda, who seems like a standard "Asian martial artist"-type actor (credits include Power Rangers, playing Sektor in Mortal Kombat: Legacy, and Dark Angel), so that may be the mysterious "red ninja". But I'm hoping it's Elektra.

Daredevil looks like he's getting his ass kicked a lot in this series based on that trailer. In case you haven't noticed, whenever they want to convince us that a character is "gritty", along with a lot of swearing and sex, the "hero" gets beat up a lot.

Like, I really enjoy that the MCU is generally not so grimdark (although it's still suffering in the wake of Nolan's Batmen), but they have to do stuff to establish that Daredevil is different from Hawkeye, Falcon, and Black Widow, all of whom are normal humans with respect to physical traits. The big problem I foresee is inconsistencies with how "normal" supers are presented. Is Daredevil going to need to spend a lot of time recovering from a single fight while Falcon gets up fine after being thrown out of a building? Are character tones going to be consistent with the character or with the series? If Daredevil shows up in Avengers, will he become more durable/if Falcon shows up in Daredevil, will he be more "human" in these respects?

The comics have never been consistent with regards to what "normal" humans can do and survive having done to them, not even within the writing of the same "normal" human character, so why should the MCU? 8)
