Well, it's certainly a weird kind of roguelike game due to it's kind of turn based combat (and the crazy text events) so it can be difficult to approach, but for people that like it, the game somehow clicks. Similar in it's map management and roguelike spirit but with top-down action combat (Gauntlet, Mageslayer, Hotline Miami) is Firebreak, in case anyone wanna check it.

Heard of it. Never really got into it But is it that good of a game? IMHO, the fighting part of the game reminds me a lot of Star Trek battles. It's not fly around dramativally evading enemy attacks like crazy, and more of a 'calm down, calmly assess the situation, reorient power to the proper systems and weapons to deal with the threat, find the enemy's weakness and exploit it. It's a smart sort of fighting, and I love smart. As for the rest of the game, I find it enjoyable and eventful. I only wish the Rebel fleet didn't advance so fast and that I had more time to explore and mess around. ^_^

It's not easy, though. Sometimes the game kills one of your crewmen basically at random. For example, you could find a seemingly abandoned station, and you get the choice to explore it or not. Now, if you do, you might get something good from it, but there's also a chance that something random like 'the station explodes and one of your men dies'. Of course, if you never take any risks, you don't get rewards... but sometimes, it's just a throw of the dice. But I really like it. ^_^

Good to know... I thought there was literally like a fixed X% chance of success, and a Y% of dying. Either way, I usually at least attempt those events because most of the time, they are about being good guys and helping people out... and most of the time I make it out with goods instead of losses. Still... it's annoying to lose one of my favorite characters to a mere event when all I was trying to do was to help people, lol.
