Would be nice if I can add some members here as friends. The multiplayer games I have on the Switch are:
1. Dragonball Fighterz
2. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle
3. Wargroove

I got one, but all I have at the moment is LoZ Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey and Smash Ultimate. Got debts to take care of before I can buy more games.

They have a deal where if you download the Splatoon demo, you get 1 week of Nintendo Online free. If you have Amazon Prime, there is a deal with Twitch where you can get like 6 months of Nintendo Online for free.

There is a f2p game in the Nintendo eshop called Gems of War. Even though it was released for the pc in 2014, I was not aware of it until I saw it in the Nintendo eshop this past Saturday. If you don't know what the game is, it takes place in the computer game, Warlords universe. The game is a combination of rpg, strategy, and puzzle. When you start, you create your hero character by choosing your race and class. As you go through the tutorial and continue onto the story, you will gain new troops and weapons (I'm still too early in the game to know if there are heroes you can recruit). Combat is done through Bejeweled mechanic of match 3. Each troop unit and weapon has a color associated to it (some are dual or triple colored). When you match a certain number of tiles to that color, the troop or weapon fires off its special ability. If you match 3 or more skull tiles, your top unit or hero does damage equal to its attack value to an enemy unit (or multiple enemies).
Because it is f2p, there is grinding involved. Everything is upgradable- hero character(s), troop units, and even your home territory. It kind of reminds me of Disgaea in that regard. If you guys have not played this game on the pc, I highly recommend you download the game onto your Switch and give it a try. If a few of us on this board and VGG have this game on the Switch, I may try to save up gold to form our own guild. You do need an internet access but you don't need to purchase Nintendo Online to play.

No offense meant, but I have no interest in Splatoon, and I already have a ton of games I wanna play on my computer at this point in time. Also, I don't really have nearly enough time to get involved in a guild on a multiplayer RPG at this point in my life. I'd just end up never being there, lol.

I don't play Splatoon either. Just letting you guys know that you can get Nintendo Online for free for a week (actually they allowed me a couple more days) if you download the Splatoon demo. Also if you have Amazon Prime, you can get NO for like half a year for free.
I only mentioned Gems of War for the Switch because I thought it might be up your alley and for the budget minded, its free. You do not need NO but you do need internet access to play the game. You don't have to join a guild or battle other players. You can play each city's quests solo (story part of the game and there are a lot of cities!). There is no pressure to spend any money but it does make getting ultra rare units or weapons harder if you are not spending money or doing guild related activities. As with any f2p games, there is a lot of grinding involved but I love the rpg and match 3 aspect of the game and right now having a lot of fun. The game is a nice filler for those times you are bored or can't do anything else but wait (public transportation, anyone?).
By the way, the original Puzzle Quest was so popular that they licensed the base gameplay to other companies. There is Marvel PQ, Magic the Gathering PQ, Heroes of Might and Magic PQ, etc.

Well, thanks a lot for the recommendation. I just didn't want to unjustly raise your hopes too much about the multiplayer part of it, since I'm a rather lousy multiplayer gamer. I tend to play specific video games only when I please and often for a limited duration before I feel like playing something else for a while, so anything requiring more constant frequency tend to be left behind by my habits. I might try it out on my own, though. So much appreciated anyway.

Oh, OK. Give it a try. You can always delete it.

Yeah, I've got a Switch. I bought it for Smash Ultimate when they announced Ridley. Also picked up Pokémon Let's Go Eevee and Breath of the Wild.
I haven't had a reason yet to play anything online with it. When I've played other games online, I was generally disappointed. Maybe that will change if someone wants to Smash.
