Background
Drevis was born in a small village in the North, far from the cities and civilisation enjoyed by others. All he ever wanted was to be a hunter, to provide for his village and live a normal happy life. Fate had other plans.
When he was only two his mother died in child birth giving birth to twins. His father (a fisherman) was never the same and died in a storm when he was 8. The three children were brought up by their grandparents.
Drevis grew up a serious boy, bent on taking care of his family. He studied under Onthorn, the villages chief huntsman proving to have a modest talent, however whenever he would go out if the village to hunt on his own he would fail. Not through lack of effort, or skill, but because large powerful Pokemon would simply appear around him and start following him around.
Trying to hunt deer with a giant Charizard trailing you and trying to be 'friends' would be challenging for a master huntsman and Drevis wasn't one of those.
Eventually the elders of his village consulted the local oracle (and village crazy lady) 'Wise Erma'. It was she who told him that it was not his fate to be the hunter he wished to be. She told a story that Drevis's mother had been present at the death of an ancient and powerful Pokemon. That even though pregnant she had stayed to confort the Pokemon in its final hours and in return the Pokemon had shared the last of it's life energy with her unborn child. His fate lay far to the south at the Pokemon Tamers Accademy. Of course Erma told all sorts of crazy stories so no one paid more attention to this than they had to. What was clear however was that Drevis was no use to the village as he was.
Drevis was crushed, his dream gone and being (in his eyes) banished from his village he blamed the Pokemon. Whilst he could not bring himself to do them harm (he had been brought up with the hunters credo to only kill when necessary and to care for the creatures he hunted) he felt resentful. Not that they noticed, for no matter how much he shouted or tried to drive them away some mystical force kept drawing them to him.
So it was that he arrived at the school with a gaggle of Pokemon in tow.
