How set are the Guardians? Do/did we have a base of operations? Did we write up by-Laws? I assume we are/were very respected? Also my character has changed to inventer/Joker merger. I'm thinking punisheresque. So Anti-Hero...

How set are the Guardians? Do/did we have a base of operations? Did we write up by-Laws? I assume we are/were very respected? I think this might be a bit variable and depend on what the team make-up looks like. Most of the submissions I've been getting seems pretty light on Wealth as a trend (understandable as we're playing superheroes not Monopoly), so unless I come up with a NPC or organization to bankroll the team (which isn't entirely unfeasible), you guys would probably be of phenomenal cosmic power but relatively limited financial liquidity. In a couple of the old games the Guardians were based out of a re-purposed vaudeville theater off-Broadway. That could be one of many bases of operations they worked out of, or not, depending on what people settle on. My preference is to keep them primarily active in the New York area so they could remain contemporaries of the Avengers, FF, X-Men, (etc.) but beyond that I have no firm ideas yet. I'm debating putting together a sideboard for us to collectively fill in these kinds of gaps (and then apply elements of them in the main game). Possibly as a way to generate lines of experience?

To be fair the whole, reappearing after being away would cause money troubles. How did the Guardians finance themselves originally?

I mean we could always do a Punisher and rob the bad guys... We just scale it up a bit.

So surprise! I've got a pitch in for this (It's a DK game, how can I not?), and I actually bought some wealth. The Human Torch (name not included) will be cashing in some of those sweet war bonds.
So what kind of base do we want? Something classy, like the old Avengers Mansion? Something Justice League Watchtower-esq? (A little out of my price range...do the make satellite bases in studio-size?) There's the Fantastic Four's "let's buy this crappy old building and fix it up" scenario. Or maybe Namor will want to bankroll the team? (Yes, I took him as a "Deadly Frenemy.") How about an old police precinct building that's up for auction?
I like the mansion idea.

Whatever the spot is and however it gets funded (my character is broke as hell too, I thought it was only natural) it should feel like a relic out of time, a museum of deeds long gone by that barely anyone remembers anymore, forgotten to the world.

How about a building above an abandoned subway station. I'm digging the tmnt vibe

An old toy shop that leads to the sewers below?

So I'm rolling with the original Human Torch, focusing more on him as a synthetic man. In my spin on his story, he tried retiring after his stint as an Avenger to become a cop and take care of his dying creator, his "father." We could say that the old scientist had a Bat-Cave-ish museum/lair under whatever building he may have owned, which passed on to his "son." Dr. Horton was a huge narcissist, but I'm thinking he saw Jim as his legacy, and maybe had this secret pride thing going on, maybe something Jim only discovered after his father's death, an old abandoned train depot where he kept trophies, tributes, and mementos of the Human Torch and his allies over the years (along with his secret lab, of course). And when the Guardians return to find themselves without any support or even a place to crash for the night, Jim's like, "Well, I might know of a place..."
Thoughts?
Can't wait for DK to put up the board...

I like the idea of a toy shop front leading to a fortified subterranean set-up (with a lab, some type of garage or hangar space, and so on). I'll try to think of a way to express mechanically what you guys will need, and possibly a way you could improve/invest with Wealth, Inventing, etc. (Fixing up the old base might even be a plot point.)

DK, when might we expect to see a board up? Who are we waiting on? (I mean, obviously it's all Dhark's fault, but still...)
