Here is my general rule for all conversions. Pretty straight forward and makes the systems really backward compatible...
Rank Feeble or Poor = 1 stone.
-- this is lifting up to 100 pounds. the new system does not try to detail those less than adequate any longer. Just give them a 1 and roleplay the details as you like.
Typical or Good = 2 stones.
-- old system this is up to 400 lbs, new system is 250. These don't specify press or lift or HOW you lift it however, so they are roughly equivalent.
Excellent = 3 stones.
-- 800 lbs old system, 1000 new. This is PEAK human performance for all things except Intelligence.
Remarkable = 4 stones.
-- old system is max 1 ton, and the new one is 2 tons. here we start to see a shift.
Incredible = 6 stones.
-- old syste and new both list this as max 10 tons. as you can see, there is a gap between 4 and 6 the older system misses. The new system is LESS detailed on the feeble ranks, bu MORE detailed on the higher end. This allows more variance in heroes.
Amazing = 8 stones.
-- again old and new both top out at 50 tons, but the new system allows for more detail between these levels. More linear progression and less bell curve.
Monstrous = 9 stones.
-- 80 tons old system, and 75 tons new. Close enough to call.
Unearthly = 10 stones.
-- 100 tons on each.
So as you can see, the variance with some writeups is that the new system breaks down individual strengths a bit more accurrately than the old system did. You could say your character had Incredible strength, but could only lift 5 tons... but who would.
This is why we have the spidey debate... comics say 5 tons, but in the old system this takes incredible... which tops out at 10 tons. So which i right? New stats are actually MORE accurrate for spidey in this situation, and the 5 stones matches the 5 tons casual strength he is attributed in mst storylines.
This scale holds true for intelligence also... but is not capped at 3 stones like most physical stats are.
also noe, treat each column shift as an equal number of bonus or penalty stones.
How does this help? A talent might give +2 CS with ranged weapons. This is the same as +2 stones. For modelling talents/skills... you factor the total rank attainable in old system, then match that in the new by the raw action itself.... if the action automatically gains an ability bonus make sure the combined total at least matches the old.
And remember... wing it! This ain't exact Reed Richards science people....
