Hi, I just uploaded a tool to create characters to my site. The current version is still in its early stages, but it is pretty useful. Please download it, and tell me what you think, it needs Java. Read the readme.txt The next version will calculate character costs, later versions will also be able to calculate powered armor and robot characters. Here is the link www.sachau.net/murpg/murpg.zip(size is about 5MB)

Downloaded it, but the zip file is corrupt or something. Even redownloading won't help.

Downloaded it, but the zip file is corrupt or something. Even redownloading won't help. I just downloaded the file and it worked, even with Windows NT.

Tried this at my school/work... And looks like it works... Just takes some time to start.
and i have to say... WOOOOT I LUVE IT!!! Everything is costimizable.... So even though theres only a box cutter in the equipment list, it can be edited.
But the Background dosent work... Dammit.... It also sais that it can export as PDF (save??), but so far it havent done that.
The only thing that it really needs is something to keep count of the stones used.

I haven't worked on it, since my last post, because nobody was really interested in the program, so I left it at the current state.
It works fine for me: saving groups of characters, exporting them as PDF. Point calculation is not 100%, no robots and no PA also in my current working copy, which is not the version on the site.
And yes, it is very customizable: actions, modifiers, equipment.
If there is enough interest here, I may try to continue working on it.

Well.... Im interrestet.... This kind of program is great for speed creating a NPC or to see if you can do that with so meny stones.
One of the things i do love is that each action and so on can be modified... So if its one of you own actions, then you just need to change the name of a similar action.

I uploaded a new version, background should work and PDF export.
Just enter a character, click "Export as PDF" from the menu, and enter a pdf filename, for example "test.pdf", and a path were you want to save that test.pdf, after the export you can open that test.pdf with Acrobat.

Dolemite: If you are still working on this, when can we get a version that calculates the costs? Everyone Else: I am currently working on getting all the information from the two guides into this program. It is particularly easy since the data is stored in XML. So far I have the actions updated. One thing to keep in mind is that I designed it based on a different set up for Mastery of Magic, But that is easy enough to change (it is at the end of the file, so you could just cut and paste to remove the last part of my file and replace it with the last part of his file). It can be downloaded here

Hi,
thanks for your input, dragonmaster. I stopped development a while ago, because there was no real feedback.
I would like to do a new version with a new interface, support for powered armor and robot characters. This version would also calculate the cost. But I think I will change the dataformat, so old saved characters will not be usable anymore (but can be imported on a later version)
