At some point here (as soon as I get my Marvel In Black campaign going) I plan to start up a Cosmic Level Campaign. While I can see a quick way to draw all of the PC's into the story (the Planet Eater is destroying the earth, what do you do?) what I am having trouble with is the rest of it. So I guess I'm looking for some recommended reading for a Cosmic Level storyline.

The Dune Chronicles. The six of them get pretty interstellar. Kinda hard to follow at times but good books. And not much dealing with a cosmic entity but there is a lot of cosmic level stuff. Maybe Ender's Game. Not a whole lot of books that I'm aware of are really cosmic in the way you're thinking but I'll post again if I think of anything.

Have been looking around some and wikied the Infinity Gauntlet. That seems like the kind of thing I'd be looking for (I'll probably see about picking up that miniseries sometime soon). The idea now floating through my head is to have each character represent one of the stones and gain a special power boost from possessing it. The problem is that I still get stuck on "filler" Issues. Yes, there are a lot of "Cosmic Threats" that can be come up with, but as for the character building stuff in between... It's just hard to see how that would play out.
I've actually tried to get through the Dune Chronicles but wasn't able to get past the scene where they toss a baby from a balcony. I'll look into Enders Game though.

You want cosmic level stuff, pick up the series "Annihilation" it's marvels latest cosmic scale mini series. There are also Ronan, Super skrull, Silver Surfer, and Nova mini series. I highly recommend all of these.
And...what is your marvel in black game? I can't find it anywhere on the boards.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll be sure to look into those.
Marvel in Black is a game I'm running with my gaming group. I'm sure there is mention of it on the boards (I've been getting a bit of advice on how to run it from here), though there isn't any one thread specifically about it. The idea (as presented to my group) is an MiB themed game, only instead of aliens, you're dealing with mutants. This led to it being dubbed the Mutants in Black campaign by one of the group, which I've modified to Marvel in Black since mutation isn't the only thing involved (also it fits better into my naming convention of using part of the system in the name of the campaign).

The characters all had one in that series after the infintiy gauntlet was dispersed.

So, so far we have suggestions for the Annihilation series, the Infinity Watch series, Enders Game (finished that one, seems a little to deus ex machina for my tastes). Any other suggestions?

Any other suggestions? the infinity war was good, and even the infinity crusade... anything involving Thanos usuall is very cosmic in scale... there was the series call "the End" as well which was very cosmic.

Thanks for all the suggestions for cosmic level stories. I suppose the easy way to handle the more "character building" issues would be to explore their powers, backstory, etc. Other than that, any suggestions?

lol. Just was thinking over the basic concept I had floating through my mind of what the game would be and realized that a great example (and thus a resource I should try to make use of) would be season 4-5 of Andromeda. (the notion of avatars and such as used in it would fit quite well) Does anyone have suggestions from television or movies? Keep in mind that while ideas for grand cosmic events will be appreciated, the main concern I am having is the danger of the game being all about uberpowerful PCs beating up on their enemies. Simply put, I'm wanting the game to be more "Power and Responsibility" and less "Clobbering Time".
EDIT: Was just watching Farscape/Stargate and it occurred to me that both of those shows... scratch that, all three of those shows (there are two versions of Stargate after all, and both seem to fit) are good sources. Don't know of any others, at least none that I can think of right now.
Does anyone else have some ideas?
