The Super Adaptoid (as appeared in Avengers #45)
Android creation of A.I.M.
6’2”, 240 lbs.
INT 8 (S.I.) STR 10 (Thor) AGL 8 (Hercules) SPD 10* (Quicksilver) DUR 7 (Thor)
H: 7 E: 30 (Energy Battery [see below])
*SPD determines initiative
ACTIONS:
CC: 7 (Cap, Thor) STR bonus
RC: 8 (Hawkeye) Archery Shield Throwing (CAP and Thor=7)
Acrobatics 4 (Cap) AGL bonus
Repulsor Rays 5 (Iron Man) Stun at will R: 3
Flight 7 (Iron Man)
Hex Spheres 9 (Wanda)
Growth/Shrink (Giant Man)
Photo-Electric Circuits Allow permanent Copy Ability/Action/Modifier. Can store powers of up to eight targets at one time. Cannot copy “artificial” abilities (EX: Vision or Ultron)
Modifiers: Toughness +7 (Iron Man) Reflexive Dodge +4 (Quicksilver) Targeting +4 (Hawkeye) Healing Factor (per Cap, Hercules) Energy Defense +3 (Herc) Energy Battery 3
Equipment: Shield +7 (combination of Cap’s shield and Thor’s Hammer [though no teleportation, etc.]) Bow +3 and Arrows (per Hawkeye [to many to list])
Challenges: Hubris Fixation with Captain America Can be goaded into using too many abilities at once (expending too much energy) Stunned, if energy reaches zero (which makes Energy Drain, and Power Boost deadly to him)
A tough dude to make. He basically has a permanent copy A/A/M on a hero-by-hero basis (meaning he can absorb and mimic ALL the target’s physical capabilities, permanently, but can only store 8 target’s powers). A simpler way to create would be to give him The Power Cosmic, since he is created from a sliver of the cosmic cube. But his range of abilities is so immense, and because he’s A.I., he can use more of ‘em at once. Since he’s so energy dependent, I gave him the Energy Battery via Cwylric’s House Rules.

This was one of the Write-Ups I lost due Floppy failure... I made a Modifier called Adaptation for him. Few tips... Considering that in TMSHRPG his Int was 6[Typical] and In SAGA system 3X... 8 is a bit much... how about 3, that'd give him Max of 3 actions per Panel. The Super Adaptoid (as appeared in Avengers #45) SPD 10* (Quicksilver) At that time [1967] Quicksilvers SPD was 6 or 7 [he could run over 175 mph, but couldn't break sound barrier] I honestly don't know why people use them. The energy battery rule makes sense, esp. for characters w/power armor and somebody like this.
S.I. probably is too high, but it should be no less than 4 (as he "channeled" four heroes at one in 4 & 5). Figured, "well, he has 8 stored, who's to say he couldn't try to use everything at once?"
SPD 6? 7?

The energy battery rule makes sense, esp. for characters w/power armor and somebody like this. No, it invalidates Official Write-Ups. S.I. probably is too high, but it should be no less than 4 (as he "channeled" four heroes at one in 4 & 5). Figured, "well, he has 8 stored, who's to say he couldn't try to use everything at once? He can call up the abilities of up to 8 people, yes... ...But that doesn't mean he can perform 8 actions per Panel. Besides he's barely sentient, A.I 8 would make his prosessing capasities greater than Iron Mans armors. Well up until 1998 his Top speed in short distances was just over 175 mph, and when he had enough room to accelerate he could achive speeds just above 400 mph... ...Until-> "The Siege of Wundagore" Heroes for Hire 15-16 Quicksilver 11-12 Heroes for Hire/Quicksilver Annual 1998 After the storyline Quicksilvers Speed has been permanently Enhanced... Altough he no longer possesses the kinetic energy manipulation abilites the Isotope-E granted him. V.

I definitely forgot that, at the time of Avengers #45, the crew would still be growing in power. Ex: Wanda's ability to control hexes was not fully developed. You already brought up Quicksilver's speed (though he went fast enough to have the power of flight for short distances). I imagine Cap's abilities would be lower, as would Iron Man's armor. I do not have a Silver Age reference, however. Would have to estimate., rather than use the rule books for guidance.
I don't see the point about "valid/invalid" write ups. Do the board rules specify using just book rules? (I suppose that WOULD make sense)
His S.I. would absolutely HAVE to be at least 4, since that's what short-circuited him in #45 (which is what I was basing this one). It would also have to be equal to Stark's I.M. armor at that time (and I don't know what that would be, exactly).

artificialw much about coping powers, but what about Cannot copy “artificial” abilities (EX: Vision or Ultron) You copied Ironman, he is a construct, you could copying Tony Stark as he is flesh and blood, but Ironman..... And what about captains shield and Thor's hammer, they are not organic, copy the Thing or Hulk you will get toughness, strength and a healing factor.
More logical don't you think?

That's true. However, in #45, S.A. had the jet boots and repulsor rays. Did he construct them in the interim (when he was just "adaptoid?"). That's something to ponder, because he DID have I.M.'s abilities. Hmmmmm...
BTW, I tried locating Adaptoid in the old MSHRPG, but he's not there (at least, not where I could find him). Anyone know where I can find a good reference as to basic abilities?

The super adaptoid had regular human standards to start and was able to copy abilities and powers, even weapons and items of other characters due to it being formed from a cosmic cube fragment. The ability was called adaptation. He can copy up to 7 individuals at a time but after copying more than one, he turns a kelly green. He did not copy experiences though and was usually limited to copying what he was able to see. I have the original write ups for him at home from like 3-4 official sources and I caqn post it later on. "Has the ability to copy the powers, attributes, physical characteristics, vocal patterns, thumbprints, fighting styles, weapons, and other things of those he wishes. He can copy the persons or things power by seeing and scanning the subject. Due to an upgrade given to him by Bruce Banner he is now able to use any and all powers he has copied over the years. He can also create other Adaptoids. While he possessed the power of Kubik, the Adaptoid was almost omnipotent." -Marvel.com www.marvel.com/universe/Super-Adaptoid

From the Marvel Superheroes RPG: (Page 30 of the AVENGERS ASSEMBLED! source book)
Fighting TY Agility TY Strength TY Endurance TY Reason TY Intuition TY Psyche TY
Powers:
ADAPTION The Super-Adaptoid can imitate the Fighting, Agility, Strength, Endurance, Powers, and Weapons of up to five characters or creatures at one time, and possibly even more under certian circumstances. It cannot duplicate mental powers that have no physical manifestation. The Super-adaptoid's Health is always 150 regardless of what its current abilities are. Any creature that passes through the area the SA is occupying can be duplicated. it's visual sensors analyze and record all of that person's powers. It can keep a record of a person for up to two years.
If it is imitating only one person, the SA becomes an exact duplicate, including clothing and personal items. If it is combining several people, it imitates bits and pieces from each person's appearance. However, the SA's skin takes on a greenish colour when it duplicates more than one being at once.
Each of the abilities it duplicates is equal to the highest rank in that ability possessed by any of the beings it is duplicating. It makes functional duplicates of any pertinent object, such as captain america's shield, Hawkeye's Bow, or Iron Man's armor. It can copy anything up to and including monstrous materials.

so if I were to transfer him into this game and start him from scratch, I would put him like this: SUPER-ADAPTOID Intelligence 2 Strength 1 *Variable Agility 1 *Variable Speed 1* Variable Durability 2* Variable
Health 2* Does not change. Energy 6* Variable
Modifiers:
ADAPTION
Can copy and use all abilities, actions, and modifiers of up to 5 characters/creatures within a 3 range. Health remains 2 stones regardless of durability number. Intelligence is not copied. The Adaptoid takes the highest ranking stats of all of the creatures it copies. Does not copy Disabilities/Weaknesses.
Disabilities/Challenges:
Copying more than one character/creature causes the Adaptoid's skin to turn Kelly green. He also takes on multiple aspects of the copied individuals in regards to looks.
Non human appearance: Completely white with no facial features or ears.

actually a 150 hp is more than Captain America had... Id make him a durability of 4 or 5 and he always has 4 white stones of health. Its the best way i can see to transfer it.

Wow, this whole thread makes my brain hurt. Originally I wasn't even going to bother trying to point out all the many errors made here, but then I thought, "What if some one reads this and thinks it's accurate?" So in the hopes of saving many games, here goes:
First the CAD, Super Adaptoid is not particularly bright and certainly not on the level of Dr. Doom, so an INT 8 is right out.
I don't like the use of energy battery here since he never displays an exceptional amount in the comic series. While it makes sense to offset his weakness, it stinks of meta-gaming. Besides, with DUR 7 and a healing factor he has massive energy as it is.
Please remove the "Cannot copy 'artificial' abilities (EX: Vision or Ultron)." He obviously can since he did so to Iron Man's armor and gained none of Tony Stark's abilities.
There is no AN for his Growth/Shrink. Stat ups without stats are useless and help no one.
For God's sake put "exclusive" on that weapon! No GM needs to deal with a player trying to take that thing feeling he's earned it after such a hard fought battle. Or better yet, give him Weapons Morphing so it's actually a part of him and cannot be removed.
Cwylric’s House Rules were written by one of the game's creators and actually make a lot of sense when used properly. They promote better game balance and offer players more options to write CADs that accurately describe their characters. If you're not already using them I encourage you to do so.
Super Adaptoid does copy weaknesses as shown when she absorbed Sentry's powers and fell victim to the Darkness. (and yes, I hate Sentry too)
Lastly, other games had totally different scaling systems and riddled with their own errors in stats. They are not canon and should have no baring on this game. If you're just looking for some ideas that's fine, but a CADs accuracy depends solely on how it relates to the actual comic books. (and whatever extra junk your GM decides to throw in ;-)

Oh, and the most ridiculous thing of all! INT in no way determines your number of actions per panel. In MURPG it's two action boxes and any stones placed in them can then be transferred to defense.

Oh, and the most ridiculous thing of all! INT in no way determines your number of actions per panel. In MURPG it's two action boxes and any stones placed in them can then be transferred to defense. It says in the murpg core book that Powered Armor/or a Robot character can do as many actions, per panel, as their Int number. I think it's cheese, considering that you only pay half for abilities, for PA/R characters. Sent from my HTC Glacier using proboards
