This is the power Mastermind has been seen using in X-Men 2 and in the comics several times. From past experience, can lead to some of the coolest scenes ever in a game when in the hands of an NPC or very skilled and reasonable player. Enjoy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on Telepathy's "Illusions" option, this is Jason "Mastermind" Wyngarde's most fearsome power. It allows its user to trap a victim's mind inside a "Dream World" of its choice, creating and controlling every part of it. The user can make the world look like anything from a closed room without windows and a single, yet locked door; a vast desert, a large abandoned castle... or even the very same place the person was, without any change, except that everything that happens in that Dream World is under the control of the user.
In game terms, this is a simple attack VS Mental Defense (Int.bonus plus Mental Defense) that stuns for 1 panel/red stone of damage. The interesting part, however, is that the fight doesn't necessarily stop for that person.
During the panels in which the victim is trapped in the Dream World, the user explains everything the victim sees, hears and smells. Anything can happen without limit, just like in a dream... or a nightmare. One could find himself standing in a house that does not look like any house he's ever been, but "know" it's his house, and now he's trapped in it. And the house is on fire. Another person could find herself standing in a labyrinth, and suddenly she could feel that "something" is pursuing her, watching her every move. Another could find himself standing to the side of a coffin in a cemetary, knowing very well that the person in it is a close friend of him...
Just about anything the user can think of. The fun thing is, even while they are stunned in the waing world, the victims of this attack can still act and react to events happening in the Dream World, which still keeps them in the game... even though they are now trapped in either a dream or a nightmare of the user's making. In that Dream World, the user is a God, nothing less. He can make anything happen, he can change whatever he wants, and he can do whatever he wants with the victim, although most people with this power like to taunt their victims by creating a "Dream Self" of them in it and speaking with the victim of how powerless they are in "their" world.
Now, while this is all happening, in the real world, the victim is simply stunned and cannot move. But whatever happens n the Dream World stays in the Dream World; this means a person who loses an arm, or gets killed in a Dream World is exactly as she was when she went into the Dream World. If she was perfectly healthy, she's just as fine when she gets out. If she was already wounded, she gets out of the Dream World with the same wounds she had prior being trapped in it. In fact, if the Dreamscape user so wishes, the victim could even simply not die in the Dream World.
A victim inside the Dream World still regenerates Energy normally in the real world, or still heals from wounds with an Healing Factor. The body still works normally, only the mind is affected.
When the duration comes to an end, the user can maintain the Dream World by using 1 stone per person/panel, as well as an action every panel for the simple purpose of concentrating on the Dream he's creating. He can of course use this power on another person and send him/her into the same Dream World or another, but he'd need to pay another stone to maintain it after the initial duration is passed.
If a victim is hit hard enough to suffer from 1 white stone of damage or more, she will wake up from the Dream World. If the user of the power is knocked out, stunned himself or killed, the victim (obviously) wakes up. Another way to bring a Dream World to an end is for a telepath to use his powers to beat the Dreamscape user's own Mental Defense, in which case the Telepath can enter the Dream World, do anything she pleases like if she was the one having created the Dream World, including ending it and pushing back both the victim and the user into the waking world (without any real-world harm to either).
A mutant having either a Mastery of Reality or Mastery of Dreams, a powerful entity with either Power Cosmic, Mastery of Cosmic Energy or God-Like Powers, or a Mage using Magical Travel (Dream Walking) can enter a dream world created by a person with the power of Dreamscape. Once inside, if they can beat the Dreamscaper's Mental Defense, they too can manipulate the Dream World as if it was their own, their power defeating that of the Dreamscaper. They can also disrupt the Dream World as normal telepaths can, freeing the victim and pushing the Dreamscaper out of his own Dream World.
IMPORTANT: A Dreamscaper cannot affect a target he has trapped in a Dream World again for X panels after he snaps put of it, where "X" is the number of panels he was trapped in it.
--) Intelligence Bonus (+2)
--) User does not need to spend 1 stone per person/panel to maintain (+1 to CL)
--) User does not need to spend an action to maintain (+1)
--) Attack ignores "Mental Defense" modifier (but still needs to beat Intelligence) (+1)
--) Damage done in the Dream World remain in the real world, with a minimum of -2 red stones of Health, which means a coma until proper healing is done (+4)
--) Damage done in the Dream World remain in the real world, and the victim can die in it! (+5)
On the contrary of most "1 hit K.O" moves, this attack can actually be particularly fun in the hands of an imaginative and reasonable player, even for the victims (and even if they are PCs), as the character can still act and defend himself in the Dream World, and they cannot die while in it, so they can fight at their fullest without any fear of killing innocents (although they may not know that)! The power could have many other uses aside combat, of course (as a gift, for example: "Hey, wanna know what it's like to skydive, but without any risk of killing yourself? Check this out!"), even going as far as a good place to train (what place is better than a dream to unleash your power at its fullest?). Also, the character trapped in the Dream World can fight whatever the user throws at him, making it an adventure in and of itself, within another adventure...
-Range: 4, may spend additional stones in the action to cover for greater range (those stones wouldn't count against overcoming target's Mental Defenses).
-Stones VS Mental Defense to stun for 1 panel/red stone of damage
-Past the initial duration, the user must spend 1 stone per person trapped and one action (Dreamscape, of course)/panel to maintain effect
-While stunned, the victim finds him/herself trapped in a Dream World of the user's choice, in which things do not necessarily work the way they should (like in a real dream): one could fall upwards, walk on the walls, walk through walls, have no powers at all, have powers they don't have normally, etc. It all depends on the user's wishes. Anything can happen in those Dream Worlds. The victim can still fight, suffer damage, and move, but it is only in the Dream, so she can't die for real.
-The victim's body in the waking world stays where it was when she was trapped, usually standing there staring blankly into space. The victim's body still regenerates Energy normally, and Health as well if she has an Healing Factor.
-If the victim's body suffers 1 white stone of damage or more while in the Dream World, she immediately wakes up. The same thing happen if the user stops concentrating, is knocked out, stunned himself or killed.
-A telepath can beat the user's Mental Defense to force his way into the Dream World he made and disrupt it, or speak in it or act in any way the telepath wishes, affecting the Dream World in the same way as if he made it himself. Disrupting it in such a way forces both the victim and the user back in the waking world, without any harm to either.
