Enhanced Senses 4
-As Animal Senses, but Kenshin's are simply greatly superior than most people's
Rapid Regeneration
Fast-Draw +5
-Katanas only
-Reduced to +3 when using his Sakabato, because a reverse-blade sword wasn't meant to be drawn this quickly.
Battosai +5
-Armor Penetrating
-Reduces Kenshin's Defense by 3 for the duration of both panels (the "charging up" one and the "actual attack" one)
-Requires 1 action to "charge" the attack up and release it the following panel
-This modifier adds to Kenshin's Close Combat attack, also making it Armor Penetrating, at the cost of reducing defense and needing to "spread" this action over two panels. It is somewhat risky, because Kenshin exposes himself to a counterattack should his opponent still stand, hence the Defense negative sitmod. Because it reminds him too much of his past as an assassin, however, Kenshin prefers not to use this move, which made him known as the feared Battosai the Manslayer.
Energy Battery 2
Deep Reserves 4
Reflexive Dodge +3 / +5
Toughness +1
Mental Defense +4 / +6
Assassin's Wits
-As Prescience
Wealth -1
-Has the clothes on his back, his sword, and his will to live!
CHALLENGES
-Mildly scarred (-0; Kenshin has an X-shaped scar on his left cheek, a souvenir of one of his past battles as Battosai. Since it doesn't actually make him look bad [some would actually say it makes him look even better!] this "challenge" isn't even worth -1.)
-Crouching Nice Guy Hidden Badass (-2; most of the time, Kenshin tries his best to appear as a simple, nice guy, quick to joke and laugh who wouldn't [and wouldn't want to] hurt a fly and who doesn't seem to know much of what happens around him, while he is at truth arguably the best swordsman ever, notices nearly anything happening around him, and can be incredibly serious when the situation demands it.)
-Highly reluctant to kill (-2; since he stopped being Battosai the Manslayer to become Kenshin, the wandering swordsman, he swore to never kill again if he could help it and fully intends to respect this oath. Should a loved one's life be threatened, however, it could be that the return of the Legendary Assassin isn't as impossible as it seemed...)
-Code of honor (-3; Kenshin follows his own code of honor. He never lies [though he may not tell everything he knows or thinks], never attacks anyone without provocation or warning, and always tries to help people in need. He's a pacifist who'd rather never fight if he can help it, but who will if it is necessary to protect people. He is exceedingly polite to everyone, all the time, and always keeps his promises if it is possible.)
-Haunted past (-3; Kenshin was known as the Legendary Assassin, Battosai the Manslayer. He has killed dozens and dozens of people, fighting to restore the Meiji era and bring a certain amount of peace and stability to the government and the people. Although he did so with good intentions, this doesn't erase the fact he murdered more people than most can remember, and this weighs heavily on his mind. That is why he now fights to protect the people, using a reverse-blade sword that is meant to defeat his foes rather than kill.)
-Deadly enemies (-5; lots and lots. Other assassins who would love to test their skills against the Legendary Assassin, former enemies of the government and the patriots, or simply people Kenshin pissed off since he started protecting the people.)
EQUIPMENT
-Sakabato (+3 weapon; a special katana that has the cutting edge on the inwardly curved side of the sword, thus being nearly incapable of killing. When used to deal stun damage, the sword adds its full bonus. If used to actually deal normal damage, its bonus is reduced by 1. NOTE: The inward side of the sword still cuts extremely well, and may still be used to attack. However, due to the blade's cutting edge being in such an awkward position to actually use in battle, the weapon bonus will still be only +2 [although it will actually be "slashing" wounds instead of bruises made by the blunt side of the sword].)
-Scabbard (the scabbard in which Kenshin carries his unusual sword. It is perfectly ordinary, although slightly reinforced and made specifically for his Sakabato. Kenshin may also use it as a weapon, in which case it works as a +1 melee weapon [Kenshin mainly uses it this way with a feint using his Katana to actually strike the foe with the scabbard instead!])
-Samurai robes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STORY: During the Bakumatsu at the end of the Edo period, both sides of the war (both the Shogunates and the Nationalist Patriots) used assassins (known as Hitokiri) to further their respective goal and hopefully win an edge over their opponents. Fighting on the side of the patriots was the strongest of all the hitokiri, a legendary assassin with an X-shaped scar on his cheek. A master of the sword, and of the nearly forgotten Hiten Mitsurugi sword fighting techniques, and more importantly, a true and complete master of the Battojutsu (a formidable fighting technique allowing the swordsman to draw his sword and strike in a single move, gaining incredible speed and strength in the attack and thus allowing a true master to effectively kill its victim in a single, devastating strike). Because of this, that legendary assassin was known as Battosai the Manslayer.
Battosai killed dozens of enemies of the Patriots, slowly but surely ensuring the Shogunates' defeat and the coming of the Meiji era, and of a fragile, but somewhat stable peace. However, as the battles came to an end, the legendary assassin vanished, disgusted by the murders and atrocities he had to commit to bring peace back to a troubled world. Exchanging his katana for a reverse-blade sword, a sakabato, and swearing he'd never kill again, Battosai became Kenshin Himura, a peaceful, nice guy who travelled around Japan, helping people as he did, fighting for those who couldn't defend themselves... both because it was the right thing to do, and to atone for his sins... to earn the forgiveness of those who were killed by Battosai the Manslayer.
