God, guide my aim... Nightcrawler prays silently to himself as he leaps forward, his two massive toes splayed, into a kick where the gunshot originated from. Hopefully that would end this madness!
========= 8 into Close Combat, attacking where the gunshot originated from, hoping to at least graze Mastermind

Rogue
Once again short of breath, Rogue attempted to guide her friends towards their enemy. Those telepathic abilities were rather taxing on her. For some reason, she was convinced that the area on which she couldn't concentrate her psychic abilities hid the Mastermind's real presence.
-...Uff... ufff... over... there. My telepathy... I'm pretty sure he's hidin' there... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 3/3 E: 3/9
2 stones into Intelligence to direct the others towards where I believe Mastermind to be hiding, which is... the area I can't seem to read with my telepathy.
End E: 1/9 Defense: 6 (Toughness) Mental Defense: 10 (2 Intelligence, 8 Mental Defense)

"He won't escape, when there's nowhere to hide." Storm says, and begins to whirl the winds around, leaving their opponent no quarter to hide himself.

Guided by Rogue, Nightcrawler manages to kick something or someone he can't see. Then in a blink of an eye before Nightcrawler can react, he is blown asunder by a powerful gale summoned by Storm! Violent winds fill the room, seemingly without regard for friend or foe. Colossus's armored form protects Cyclops from flying debris, but for how long?! The gale gets worse every second! If Storm destroys the infirmary--even if she defeats Mastermind in the process--how can the X-Men help whoever's injured?! Or--is she under that creep's control?! Maybe this is part of Mastermind's plan, to have Ororo do his dirty work?!! Nightcrawler's Health: 1/3 Nightcrawler's Energy: 3/9 [The winds effectively grapple Nightcrawler for 4 stones. Since you do not have 4 stones of Energy you are prone and held in place by the hurricane winds. Reflexive Dodge saved you from flying debris this Panel, but will not help you now that Nightcrawler is held.]
Rogue's Health: 3/3 Rogue's Energy: 4/9 [You are held in place by 4 stones of wind, that must be overcome if you wish to move. No debris has come near you and Xavier yet, but the Professor will be very vulnerable if it does.]
Storm's Health: 3/3 Storm's Energy: 8/9 [You can continue to control the winds at 4 stones or more next Panel and the winds you control will not harm you. Note that if you chose to decrease the gale you will also need to spend an equal number of stones to extinguish this weather without harm to yourself or your fellow X-Men.]
Colossus's Health: 4/4 Colossus's Energy: 11/12 [You are grappled by 4 stones of wind keeping you in place, but if you attempt to escape, the winds will get past you and could cause injury to Professor Xavier.]

Held prone, Nightcrawler can only cry out, "Ororo, the wind is too much!"

Rogue
Feeling that whatever was coming was dangerous for the professor, Rogue braced herself agaisnt the gale, and fought against the winds to reach Xavier. Her goal: to protect him using her nearly invulnerable body. He was too important to all of them to risk his safety in exchange for better offense.
-All y'all, take him down! Ah'll protect the professor! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 3/3 E: 4/9
3 into Strength, combined with...
1 into Speed, to get past the powerful winds and reach Xavier, in order to shield him from both the wind and other possible attacks while the others fight Mastermind as best as they can.
End E: 0/9 Defense: 6 (Toughness) Mental Defense: 10 (2 Intelligence, 8 Mental Defense)

Ororo looks around. Continuing the gale would ensure the Mastermind was defeated, but was that worth the risk of hurting her team, and the others that were around them? No, no it wasn't. She waved her hands, to calm the winds. *********************************************************** H:3/3 E:8/9

Rogue's psi-powers are fading, but she can still sense some thoughts. To stop Mastermind, Ororo was not ready to sacrifice the X-Men as well.
"YeUGH! What a mess!" Kitty Pride exclaims, phasing in through a wall near Cyclops. "Hey, guys. I got an emergency medical kit from upstairs!"
"I'll live," Cyclops says, picking himself up off the floor. "Everyone else okay? Where's-- --Madelyne!?!"
A red-haired woman wearing a Dark Phoenix costume lies limp on the infirmary floor between Colossus and Nightcrawler.
Nightcrawler's Health: 1/3 Nightcrawler's Energy: 6/9
Rogue's Health: 3/3 Rogue's Energy: 3/9
Storm's Health: 3/3 Storm's Energy: 7/9

Kurt holds back to let Scott grab Madelyne. "So, it was Madelyne the entire time?!"

Rogue
Exhausted at their most recent ordeal, Rogue merely looks at the redhead lying on the ground, a bit confused:
-...Wait a sec. T'is lady here's name's Jean or Madelyne?

Sorry Scott. We didn't know. Colossus puts a large metal hand on his friend's shoulder.

Scott Summers was forced to stand by, helplessly, and watch Jean die. Will the same be true for Madelyne? KOFF! >Koff -- koff!< "S-Scott?!?""Hi, yourself."Cyclops is glad that Madelyne isn't Jean. Scott loved Jean. What they had was magic -- he'll treasure it always. But now, Scott loves Madelyne. Thanks to Storm's love of mercy, Mastermind may get another chance to enjoy playing with the X-Men's heads. But that same mercy also blessed Madelyne and Scott with a chance to create their own magic. Phoenix, her body scattered molecular dust on the moon, understands. And after Kurt and Piotr explain it to her, Rogue does too. Congratulations! It took over a year, but this double-sized adventure is finally complete! Nightcrawler earns 4 LOE. Storm, Rogue and Colossus each earn 3 LOE each.
