We talk about movies a lot on here. Sometimes comic book related, sometimes not. For those "sometimes not", there is this. After all, we already have a comic book movie thread, and wouldn't want to step on any of those toes! Sometimes a random movie thread will surface, dwindle, die, and then the next movie thread will pop up. If I've totally overlooked a film-centric thread that was definitely me just missing it. So, if it's out there already, that's awesome, shop will be closed down. If not, well...
Why not just talk about film here?
For example!
I saw "Toy Story 3" yesterday. It was awesome, and I think a great cap for the series should Pixar decide to end it. Should they not, there are a bunch of new and fantastic characters we could see in the future. Also, the short before the feature is absolutely great. A combination old school animation style and CGI.
But we don't have to just talk about specific movies. It's also a chance to talk about film, festivals, anything related to cinema.

Really? Huh. Grew up watching her. Didn't see that coming.

Oh hey Amanda Bynes quit acting. I defy you to show me evidence that she ever started acting. I'm sorry, but she's awful. One of the worst "actresses" I've ever seen. "She's the Man" was almost literally painful to watch, between her and Channing Tatum.

Touché! She was, from what I've heard, one of the friendliest people in Hollywood, though! One of her movies was filmed at my university and our marching band was the band used in the film. I opted not to do the movie, but everyone in the band said she was hanging out with them during a good deal of the break time and schmoozing with the mere pariah-extras.
As a completely unrelated note, my spell checker suggested "stemming" instead of "schmoozing."

Of course, we all know about corporate types and all of their stemming...

www.imdb.com/title/tt0990407/ Green Hornet. You can also check out the trailer here! Been following this one for a bit. Michel Gondry's at the helm of this, couldn't be happier. There's a pretty good interview out there of Gondry's 3-D approach to this film. It's not just crap poking you in the eye. It's... you can only see the ghost of Tom Wilkinson's character if you're wearing the 3-D glasses, old school "13 Ghosts" kinda stuff. I'll put the link up when I can find it.

I thought Kevin Smith was going to direct Green Hornet?

He was, but I can't really remember why he didn't. I want to say it had something to do with either Clerks 2 or Cop Out, or it was creative differences. Not sure.
But for a while there, Stephen Chow was going to direct and play Kato. When he left the project, Michel Gondry picked it up.

Thats alright I guess. If it was a Kevin Smith project, there's no way I'd see it (I do like Kevin Smith... I just dislike his take on super heroes). Instead, I won't be seeing it because Seth Rogen is in it.

Y'know, I actually really like Seth Rogen. I prefer his writing over his acting, but other than that I think he's pretty funny, talented, and attractive. But I know not everyone's on the Rogen train, so it's cool.
... for now! ;D Gonna be weird seeing him, you know, kicking ass, even though he did a pretty good job of it in Pineapple Express. And Michel Gondry is so out of left field. Love the dude's directing - writing is a bit hairy - it's just interesting to see him getting his hands on a project like this.

I like Seth Rogen too. I've been a fan ever since Freaks & Geeks. HOWEVER... I'm also a fan of the Green Hornet, and I don't want to see him turned into a vehicle for Seth Rogen's self-depricating sarcasm. It's very similar to how I feel about Ryan Reynolds and Green Lantern... I'm okay with the actor and I like the character, but in combination? I'm not feeling it.

Doesn't look like you'll be seeing him kick much ass yet. ^__^ He looks awfully incompetent in that movie. It still looks sorta fun, though, if you know what you're getting yourself into when you enter the theater. I'll keep my eye on it when it comes out.

Seth Rogen has described the movie version of Britt Reid as "totally incompetent", so...

IMDB is saying that Smith left the "Green Hornet" project because he was iffy about the budget. Apparently a big budget film, Smith had some hesitations about dealing with that much money.
