Eh, we can agree to disagree on Depp then, and I'm sorry, are we really forgetting Nicholson rocking it in "The Departed"? That was only a few years ago, and he was awesome. But I hear you guys on Deniro and Pacino (though Pacino was awesome in "Angels in America"). Heard similar stuff from Massawyrm on AIC and Drew McWeeny, Ebert also is holding his head. I'm with Slim, it looks like M. Night has lost his way. Gone are the days of Unbreakable and 6th Sense. Which is a shame, because those were fantastic, and then after Signs it just all started going downhill. Would really like to see him resurface from this bullsh*ttery, but it probably won't happen any time soon. It feels like ego-trippin'. These movies reek of 1st Draft, and lack of edit. If he let any editing happen on his set and on his scripts, there would probably be a shift back to earlier M. Night. Until then, enjoy more Lady in the Waters and The Happenings! EDIT: Anyone seen stuff for "The Social Network" yet? I just saw the teaser for it the other day. I'm intrigued, and always down for seeing a David Fincher movie. So far, the dude has not disappointed. Uhm, except for Benjamin Button. I'd be happy not to see another one of those. www.imdb.com/title/tt1285016/

... still don't get the insistence on calling "The Sixth Sense" a good movie. It may be one of the biggest wastes of time in the history of my life... and I've spent countless hours here on this board, so thats really saying something.
Anyway, saw Air Bender. I'll post on it.

Yeah, people don't seem to happy with The Last Shayamalan Movie ever Airbender:
The few positive reviews I have seen tend to complement the background and the general concept of the Avatar and the world itself - and for that, you might as well watch the animation. I'm glad to hear that Appa and Momo made the film (never saw them in the trailers, started to worry) but I gather that they weren't really "in" it, so much as sorta there at some points. And why would they change the way their names were pronounced? I haven't heard a good reason but there must be one.. WTF.
To cleanse my mind after watching and reading a lot of reviews, I just watched the first Toph episode from Book 2. I am saddened that I might not get to see Dwayne Johnson cast as The Boulder (possibly my favourite bit character).
Aaah, that's so much better!

Rule #1 of movie making... the idiots dressed up as characters from the thing they're seeing, WILL hate the movie. Its a fact. Don't listen to these chumps. Buy the ticket. Take the ride.

Not all of them were chumps dressed up for the movie. And Twi-hards who dress up for those crappy movies seem to love them. I remember all sorts of people dressed up for the Phantom Menace hating the living crap out of it, but then again, so did most people.
(I actually thought I liked The Phantom Menace until I woke up the next morning and realized that I mostly just enjoyed my bag of gummy bears.)

Two things; Twilight fans are the lowest form of life
AND
Phantom Menace sucked. Ergo, the people leaving the movie hating it were correct.
(In actuality, I don't think TPM sucked. I just think it was mediocre and doesn't deserve to be called "Star Wars." It bothers me when the character thats supposed to be the lynch pin to the whole thing constantly annoys me and makes me wish he'd just die or something.)

The best Phantom Menace review ever. A friend of mine observed that Twilight is a lot like Football: They run around for a couple hours, the acting is terrible, nobody scores, and billions of fans insist that "you just don't get it". ^__^ ~TWF

I highly recommend it...

I was dressed as Joker for the Dark Knight premiere (because I am terrible, subhuman nerd scum) and I loved that movie. Everything I'm hearing about Avatar, though, indicates it is a botched abortion, especially if you liked the show.

*shrugs* It wasn't nearly as bad as these reviews. If people choose not to see it because its getting bad reviews, its no skin off my nose. The way I see it, these are the same idiots that made Avatar the highest earning movie of all time... and Titannic before that... not to mention Spider-Man 3... I could go on.

Just saw it. Not as bad as the reviews said. I've never seen a single episode, and I hate anime. I liked it...mostly.

What do you hate about Anime? Avatar had a lot of the best features of Western animation, and avoided a lot of what I feel are the worst features of proper Anime (mostly the sexism, the stupid hair, and a lot of the overplayed societal tropes). Maybe you'd actually like it.

Im not gonna delve into "why is anime hated" stuff, but Avatar takes only THE BEST from both anime and western cartoons, making something in-between. Really, give it a chance. Pilot is only three episodes long, which is 1 hour of great fun and it only gets better later.
