Hey gang,

Okay, so, this is the new OOC thread! If you're wondering where the old game files went, I just put together a quick Archives Folder, where they'll live for a little while longer - at least until we get the reboot up and running. I will eventually delete them, though, as I'm not a big fan of clutter.

I'll post a character workshop thread in a second. If there's anything in general you want to talk about, feel free to post. You can go off-topic if you like; discussions are fun. ^__^

Iago, I'll have to look over the old CAD to see if anything has changed. Possibly the generic modifier, though the cost may actually work out to be the same. I'll let you know what I find. ^__^

Sam: Well, pretty much everyone in the world knows the Steel Sentinel (he's basically this world's Superman), but nobody really knows that much about him. He never revealed his secret identity until his death, and even afterwards, people have only been able to put a few pieces together.

He was known for his green, caped costume, and his observed powers included uncharted physical abilities, flight, teleportation, force field generation, and enhanced senses. He was also impervious to most attacks, though he had some hard-fought battles with a few of his more powerful villains - most notably, an alien being known only as "Deviant". Still, his skin was apparently impossible to cut, and only significant blunt-force trauma seemed to give him pause.

During his life he gave few interviews with the media, usually answering one or two questions at the most before flying or teleporting away. Often he would just encourage people not to try to be like him, but to be a hero in every day life - be charitable and respectful to others, and to never lose hope in your fellow man.

No one ever knew where the Sentinel went when he wasn't on the job. Many suspected that he was an alien or even a god, or perhaps some sort of guardian angel. But, as it turns out, he was human. He had been a decorated captain in WWII, and disappeared shortly after the war - about the same time when the Steel Sentinel appeared. It seems that he was homeless, living off the same charity that he espoused so sincerely. Aside from his clothes and his uniform, he owned no belongings and had no surviving next of kin.

That's pretty much his story. The rest is typical Superman-ish stuff. He always seemed to appear in the nick of time, usually teleporting onto the scene to save a life or defeat a villain. He didn't just protect Liberation - often he was found at the scenes of disasters the world over. He was loved by just about everyone; most adults today grew up with Steel Sentinel action figures and comics. ^__^

Hey TWF, is there a college or two in Liberation that might be noteworthy? I'd imagine there are, and that Pro Corp would have a finger or two dipped into the universities' studies and research. It would help with justifying the PA without the Invention action.


EDIT: I was just wondering, does anyone else find themselves stuck on figuring out the psuedoscience justifications behind their mutagenic and technologic characters? I just caught myself working up graphs and charts to explain how one's personal gravity would effect space-time and it made me wonder if mutants were simply Marvel's way of explanation avoidance.

I remember thinking that the little communicator things in the original Star Trek series were such crap when I was a kid. I mean, as if. They just pop that tiny thing open and it calls anyone? No way will we ever have that!

Now, looking back, I'm disappointed that his cell phone doesn't even do email. Technology is weird.

Anyhoo, there is definitely a state university in Liberation (UofL) - it isn't officially a state, but it got into the system anyhow. I guess technically it's a district? I'm trying not to outline that stuff too much. ^__^

You can definitely justify PA without Invention, even if you built it yourself. If you're a PA character, you just spend LoEs on your suit to improve what's already there (or on your pilot CAD to make him better at stuff). Adding new Actions still requires white stones (basically a breakthrough/eureka moment where you design something new). We may need to come up with a funky rule for spending LoEs, but we'll sort that out when we get to it. ^__^

It's going to say something like "Died because he thought there was no 'to much' of (insert cool game here, not WoW). May he rest in peace" on my tombstone.

I might need to investigate this 'Plants vs. Zombies' program you talk about so favorably. I have a penchant for zombie destruction and I like salad, so I think it's a match.


EDIT: I've encountered a question for our fair TWF. I was reviewing advantages to fill the +2CL bit for Force Blast, and I got to wondering about the +1 Damage advantage. It states that it adds +1 to any damage done by the action.

If I choose to attack multiple targets with the action, does a +1 apply to just one of the targets, or does each target get +1 damage applied?

I'm asking because I had considered taking Burst and they seem quite similar, though Burst is more limited.

Uhm, in theory it should do +1 damage to each target. Because x2 damage would still affect each target, so +1 damage should, too.

It is similar to Burst. Burst gives you stones of effect, which are better than damage, but only when splitting stones.

I don't think I actually wrote it in the description for Burst yet, but I think I decided elsewhere that Burst functions as x2 damage when attacking grouped henchmen. I have to port over my henchmen rules somewhere, as it's pretty integral to the game. (There are a few villains waiting in the wings who make liberal use of henchmen.)

And yes, check out Plants vs Zombies for sure. It's a wonderful game. Basically it's a "defense" game, but with the cuteness dial turned to eleven.
