I feel like Reflexive Dodge and defenses shifted from Agility or Speed should dodge Magic, as well. If you're quicker than the bolt, then the bolt can't hit, you know?

If you go that way, the 6 stone effect limit means that magic bolts are effectively worthless again. From a balance perspective, it makes a lot more sense (using the RAW rules) that only Magical Defense applies. The "logic" of whether RD and defense stones should apply goes either way. One could argue that you can dodge them, but it could also be argued that since magic requires sympathy, the bolt cannot be dodged anymore than any other spell can be dodged.

I suppose that's a fair counterpoint. I always kind of saw MoM existing as an Action specifically to balance the others. MoM reflects a character's ability to master magic. A low AN means that you can't excel in the schools of magic, but a high AN is mostly a waste of resources, since the Action can't do much else on its own. Likewise, it still takes up a slot on your CAD, which I've found is a big deal when making magic characters. They always seem to use up a lot of their Action Boxes with various utility abilities. The extra functions of MoM are just kind of there to make it more than a simple place holder.
