I think this would be fun for everyone to post what they are reading and continue to do so.
I think you can tell a lot about a person by what they read and it will be a way for us to become a closer community in a way. Also, I am also down to try a new author or book or whatnot.
I am reading;
Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein

I read Starship Troopers twenty years ago; like. Haven't had time to read much now except textbooks. I intend to read more Orson Scott Card when I have some time...Ender's Game is one of my favorite books of all time...

I'm reading this thread. Now I'm reading this sentence that I'm typing right now. ^__^ I don't read many novels these days; I read a lot of news, though. When I do pick up a novel it's usually something funny. I love Christopher Moore and I intend to pick up his latest vampire book when it comes out in paperback. My friend bought the Nikki Heat book (anyone here watch Castle?) and I just have to give it a quick read for laughs. EDIT: Heinlein is probably my favourite sci-fi writer, but I sometimes get so amazingly frustrated reading his books because I wish I'd written them. And I have never been able to read Starship Troopers from start to finish because EVERY TIME I TRY, my best friend steals it from me and reads it. She loves Heinlein even more than I do, and I guess there's something about the idea or cover of Starship Troopers that is too good to pass up. I dunno. She's weird. ~TWF

Currently I'm reading James Clavell's Whirlwind- I've read Shogun and Gai-Jin already. Clavell is an excellent writer, if you haven't read his stuff I'd heavily recommend you do so. But my favorite writer is actually Robin Hobb. She's got the best character development I've ever seen- it's like they're not fictional!

I am working my way through the classic James Bond series by Ian Fleming. They are quite different from the movies. In many cases the only similarity between the book and the movie is the title. Right now I am halfway through Thunderball.

I've never read Shogun, but I used to stay up late watching the mini series, which aired at like 12am-2am when I was a teen. It's actually the first thing I ever saw Toshiro Mifune in.
I have to go through the old Ian Flemings, too. I read one a loooong time ago - so long ago that I can't even recall which one it was. I really must read all the old Poirot novels, too. I adore the David Suchet tv series, though I understand they're also fairly different from the novels.

I DO kind of want to get into horror stuff though. Nothin demonic, just somethin that'll give meh chills.

I'm deep in some books by Terry Pratchett, mainly the ones with Ank-Morpork City Watch Commander Sam Vimes. The equation for those books are as follows: Middle-Earth+Sherlock Holmes+SNL=Fantastical Mysterious Hilarity. Pratchett's a comic genius.

I've been more or less reading Harry Dresden novels, going through the series again in anticipation for the new book in the series.
I've also been reading the Tarzan series...though I've had trouble finishing it, it's not the book thats the problem, it's because finals are coming up.

I need to get home and raid the fiction section of my library again. I usually walk out with 10 or 12 fiction books, even if I don't read them all, I have the option to.

+1 for the Dresden Files, I have only read the first two but I have like the first 5 or so in the series.
Last night I sat down to read a few more chapters of Starship Troopers and next thing I know I am reading the last page and look at the clock and it is almost 4am! Amazing read.
Now I am reading Beyond the Shadows by Brent Weeks. It is the third and final book in the Night Angel Trilogy. They are great books, a little hardcore at times, but great. Would definitely suggest it to anyone.

I noticed alot of people were into reading Jim Butcher, and I thought maybe if you were interested try Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series, I actually thought of it as a Dresdenverse sort of novel in that the supernatural was so well meshed with the mundane society.

+1 for Dresden. I have the most recent hardback (Ghost Stories?) with all the short stories on its way from Amazon right now... chomping at the bit for the next book this spring. Changes was awesome.
While I wait? I *JUST* started "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell". It's pretty interesting so far... I've had it sitting on the shelf for awhile, intimidating me with it's awesome reviews and Victorian-esque(or Napoleonic to be more accurate)-England/Magical setting... and an awesome forward by Niel Gaiman. Yep, I'm going to enjoy this monster of a book.
I just need to stop staying up on here so later so I don't pass out after five pages of reading! Dang you WK and the 313 anticipation :-P
