The two Centurions spun into action, moving as mirror-reflections of one another. The energy charge at the end of their staffs crackled as it swung through the air, delivering dual shots to the guts of Hawkeye and Mongoose. Every movement the pair made was identical, but mirror-reversed, in every way.
<OOC: Mongoose takes no damage, but Hawkeye catches a strike to the gut for 1 white stone of health!>

Seeing the ruse fail, ever so predictably, Hawkeye reacts too slowly. He'd underestimated the speed with which these Scarlet-Girlie-Guards would react and cover the distance between them! He exhales sharply from the blow, but uses the adrenaline rush and momentum to execute a series of backflips (in an attempt to place distance between himself and the opponents). As he comes up from one of them, he looses two of his throwing spikes towards the Centurian that had scored a blow on him... noting as he does so the tandem movements of the pair.

Mongoose was ready for the attack, and tumbled out of the way before the blows landed. He chided himself for bantering with his foe -- a character flaw, his old sensei had insisted and proceeded to beat out of him. Partnering with another wise-guy provoked his old habit, it seemed. He asserted his discipline and reverted to the ninja-way that had kept him alive for so long.
With maximum efficiency of effort, Mongoose snapped his expanding staff out to fighting length. The experimental graphite/vibranium composite was a derivation of the efforts into reproducing the work of Dr. Myron MacLain, who created Captain America's shield. Though nowhere near as potent as that iconic weapon, the staff was nearly indestructible, and the qualities of the alien vibranium alloy amplified the force of its impact.
Mongoose spun it around him in deadly arcs. He took Hawkeye's shuriken attack as his cue, and launched himself at an opponent, aiming painful blows to a bicep, calf, and gut in an effort to subdue, not kill.
He'd been forced to kill -- to murder -- by The Hand since his earliest memories, and the prospect of doing so ever again was distasteful.

Mongoose spun his staff and sidestepped an incoming shot from the shock-staff, delivering a blow to the side of the Centurion's head. The strike was only a glancing one, deflected largely by the strength of the man's helmet, but Mongoose thought there was some effect...
Hawkeye tumbled away from his attackers, then threw a pair of blades directly into the chest plate of the Centurion that had charged him. They pierced and stuck, but no bodily fluids flowed, indicating that it probably wasn't a significant hit.
The paired Centurions, still moving in unison, struck. The one battling Mongoose lashed out but failed to connect, while the other, only able to perfectly mirror his partner, struck seemingly at empty air, as he wasn't able to close the distance between himself and Hawkeye.

Noting the mirrord actions, and seemingly tethered distances, Hawkeye grins with delight... like a kid who just figured out the trick to solving a puzzle in record time. He launches into a cartwheel then, strategically using the motion to pull more throwing spikes from his belt. As he levels out from the movement, he takes but a moment to ensure he's still in the clear from his own attacker before this time launching his weapons instead at Mongoose's opponent~ hoping to double their efforts against one opponent.

Mongoose grins behind his mask in unison with Hawkeye. He steps inside his opponent's space, far too close for either staff to be effective, but Mongoose isn't aiming for him. Holding the vibranium staff by the end, he whips it around his opponent's side to whack Hawkeye's opponent in the skull with it...

This time, both Centurions went for an all-out attack, launching their shock-staffs like spears, but the heroes were ready for them. Hawkeye and Mongoose unleashed their attacks and dropped the first Centurion, leaving the other paralyzed and unable to move.
"You'll regret this incursion against the Emperor of Time, mortals!" it shouted, since it couldn't do much else.

"Already do, trust me. Give our regards to the Old Man won't you? We'll merely be retrieving what's ours and be on our way soon enough. Lucky you, I'm feeling generous and not at all vindictive today." Hawkeye promises, moving past the paralyzed Centurion. The nimble warrior readies the small crossbow given to him by his alternate self, figuring he'd best reserve the ammunition he's most familiar with for the time being... besides, the thing felt... almost natural in his hands. "C'mon 'goose, we've got us a mission to complete."

If Mongoose's mask had eyebrows, one would suddenly be higher than the other.
"Sure," he replies, "but don't call me Goose..."
With that, he melts into the nearest shadows, moving towards their goal...

Their goal was in sight. The "museum" itself was a single enormous room, littered with objects both men easily recognized, as well as several more that must have come from the future. There were several tempting items; amongst them, Mongoose recognized the staff of the hand an artifact the Clan had lost during one of its innumerable civil wars. But there, ahead of them, was an eight foot block of ice an within, their prize.

Mongoose pauses a moment to glance at the staff, but doesn't waste any time on it. He makes for the block of ice, circling it, wary of traps or security. He holds out a warning hand to Hawkeye while he scouts it out.

With their goal in sight, Hawkeye pulls out the device that had brought them to Cross-time in the first place...somehow he'd misplaced that objective in his excitement to find the Captain. No way they were going to thaw a block of Ice like that here. "So. Any thoughts on how we get him out of here? Preferably before any sort of alarm is raised? Clint asks of Mongoose.
Unless by some miracle, merely being in Crosstime has re-charged the device, he'll devote his efforts to seeking out an alternate ride home. A vehicle perhaps? A portal device? Anything...

Mongoose is suddenly very glad he has the sense to check, because sure enough, Kang has boobytrapped his prize. Anyone touching the ice without proper protective gear would be flash-frozen! Luckily, from the looks of things, he can probably take the device apart without trouble. Hawkeye finds that he's got several choices for time travel devices; from the SHIELD Archives he recognizes three or four of them, and one very interesting possibility. A cosmic cube rested on a nearby pedestal. It glowed only dimly, meaning it was very low on power, but those things were supposed to grant the wielders fondest wish. Could it be as simple as grabbing the thing and wanting to go home?

Clint's eyes narrow, recognizing the pitfalls of wishes and the costs that can accompany them. Still, tech savy as he might consider himself... he wasn't overly sure he'd be able to properly operate a Time Machine. That wasn't exactly part of the INDOC training at SHIELD or in the older Military schools he'd been through. Dangers or not, it seemed to be the best viable option.
Seeing that he's now on the far side of the room, he blinks his eyes in the requisite pattern to activate his COMLINK. "Think I found us a ride home, looks like enough juice... but it carries some serious risks. Or we could take our chances with any number of Time Machines in here I'd wager neither of us are qualified to operate... how're things on your end?"
