MISSION: I've been rewatching old Disney films, and while recently seeing Tangled I've been inspired to take a look at fairy tales, folklore, and use Disney as a "modern" foundation to design a fantasy setting. Ideally this would work well for most D&D sword and sorcery styled tabeltop rpgs, but if I can really get a good following here on the boards I may be so inspired as to try and run it with MURPG. The key here is to incorporate as much fairy tale and Disney into it with it still being fair use, and working through it to create something fun and unique.
First and Foremost I like the idea of taking some of the classic Disney princesses and making them the respective Queens of thier sovereign nations, due to an ancient prophecy foretold to bring an unheard of era of peace and enlightenment thanks to the Sisterhood of Lyria(Lyria being the Goddess of Love)
So with that in mind I have a good foundation to start to pic and choose which Queens I want in my world, Ideally I would like to have one represent each of the prominent ancient civilizations, which I can round to about 9 if I squeeze them together properly. These are for the humans in my world and do not represent the kingdoms of other fantasy races.
1.Scottish/Irish Kingdom
2.A European Kingdom
3.A Norse Kingdom
4.A Greek/Roman Kingdom
5. A Middle Eastern Kingdom
6. An Egyptian Kingdom
7. An Asian Kingdom
8. An Aztec Kingdom
9.A Lost Civilization Kingdom(Atlantis?, Lemuria?)
I think this is a good start to represent the humans of this world, and to some point I do want to represent some of the other iconic fantasy races as well. So I'll go and roughly hash out a few ideas for two of fantasy's most iconic peoples: The Dwarves, and The Elves.
The Dwarves
I will be the first to admit I am a Dwarf fanboy and as a whole I dont think the race needs to be changed that much from what I see them as. A strong, honorable, and powerful culture that is industrious and known for it's craftsmen. I think if theres one thing I want to change is to make them a but more friendlier and open with humans as a whole instead of them being like mountain hermits. I think this is a good chance to implement the 7 Dwarves as some kind of Folk heroes or maybe even kings?
The Elves
If there's one thing that always bothered me as a whole it was Elves, their attitude towards everything just never sat with me(see my inner Dwarf showing yet?) Having said that I want my Elves to be a bit more....badass, a bit more primeval and Fae like. Im thinking I'll have to split them into a few different sub-races, but I can say with certainty right now there will be no drow in this world. Drow are silly.
