I posted on a board that replaced fuck with "hug," so now, whenver I see the word "hug," I can't help but also read it in both contexts.
Uh... does anybody mind that I'm just blatantly going against the filter? If so, I can stop D:

Nah, no worse than my brothers.
I don't swear much at all. In fact, I try not to. It's not that I don't like it, just that I don't do it myself.

When I used to have a blog, the system over there changed the word "rape" to "hugsandkisses", which I was unaware of. I wrote a long and very serious blog on the subject of rape, and then I got an EMail from a friend of mine who thought I'd done it on purpose.

I used to post on a board that auto-replaced "ass" with "donkey". You look lost, do you need donkeyistance? Do you play lead guitar, or bdonkey? Oh no, I slept in, and I'm late for cldonkey. Where were you when Kennedy was donkeydonkeyinated? Fortunately, it wasn't long before they rethought their stance on that one. ^__^ ~TWF "donkeydonkeyinated" nearly made me spit out my coffee In a related note I am playing Donkeydonkeyin's Creed II:Brotherhood on the PS3, it is fantastic!

Uh... does anybody mind that I'm just blatantly going against the filter? If so, I can stop D: Well, it's true that it can get confusing fast. "I'm gonna hug you like there's no tomorrow!" "................wait... WHAT?!" "...Why are you looking at me like that?..."

My Halo clan's forum replaces "teabag"* and a few variations of it with "love."
Since we have policies against teabagging, and a lot of players get very angry when they are teabagged, it makes for some funny variations.
"Those bastards were loving me!"
"Did I see you loving someone in that game? Just so you know we here at Halo Wheelmen don't approve of that kind of behavior."
For awhile the guys with full mod status also got a kick out of applying the filter to certain people's usernames or gamertags. So if they felt like ribbing you, and they thought you were a good enough sport, then you might see your name replaced with "gayboy" or something similarly demeaning any time someone talked about you.
*While I assume most people are familiar with it by now (It was even referenced in the movie Gamer), for those who don't know, "teabagging" is crouching repeatedly over the corpse of someone recently slain. You can find the details on urbandictionary.com.

People get upset over that? What a bunch of crybabies. Indeed. However, it's more understandable than you might think at first. Wouldn't it be annoying if I ended all of my posts with "PWNED!" or every time we were in a mild disagreement I ended all my contentions with "Take that bitch!" It would be unnecessary, overly aggressive, and inappropriately contentious. It's making a discussion into an argument, an argument into a pissing contest, a game into a fight, a friendly fight into a personal attack. Getting killed is annoying enough, having some guy run up and start literally rubbing it in your face just adds to it for a lot of people. It's a pretty blatant show of disrespect, if only because you never do it to opponents who you DO respect. It never bothered me as much, but I know a lot of people get pretty angry about it. For me it was always more disappointing, like the person had succumbed to some base savagery that prohibited me from viewing them as a real person. Tactically it's very stupid (Staying in one place where people know you are is dumb in a competitive shooter), and I never did it anyway unless I was already goofing off (In a couple games I found it amusing to teabag my own corpse). A lot of clans have rules against "initiating" teabagging at least, because it IS a show of disrespect and if a team wants to be taken seriously they have to treat their opponents with respect. A lot of very good teams with poor manners would get overlooked when it came time to have tournaments. Also typically only teams with some minimum standards for demeanor were organized enough to get tournaments and stuff together anyhow. Anyway, I've talked for awhile about something that is mostly irrelevant. It's interesting to see how seriously people take games though. After I got good enough at it to start making things happen I would get extremely frustrated at times. It took me a long time to realize how upset I'd get. Once you get good at something you start looking at it differently, seeing flaws, and also expecting something in return for all the time you put in for getting good. People on this site aren't so different when they talk about rules in RPGs. They've been doing it awhile, they have a clue what they're talking about, and they get irritated when things don't wok as they think they should. PWNED!

I get why its annoying, I just happen to have the philosophy that you're best off ignoring things people do just to get under your skin. It's something I picked up working with children for 11 years.
