LOL no Chuck, those aren't the original shelf prices (though they're not that much higher, IIRC). Like I said, they were expensive toys. Especially for ugly toys.

The regular 4 inch figures retailed for about $10, the little deluxe playset ones ran about $25, originally. Can't find the multi-packs.

Spoilers, obviously.
Finally got around to seeing the final episodes. I'm hugely disappointed that they cancelled this show; I was pretty into it. Sucks that a show with great reviews, decent ratings, a huge fan base crossing gender and age demographics has to be sh*tcanned because they executives couldn't properly monetize it. Good job, guys.
Yes, they put a lot of merch out there, but just because it's in stores doesn't mean people are buying it. And these networks need to wake up and realize that a huge chunk of their demographic are going to watch this stuff online. I don't get WB and even if I did I'm not getting up to watch cartoons on a weekend anymore (their time slot conflicts with my gym schedule). I would have gladly watched the episodes on their website with commercials, but all they have is short clips. It's 2013, guys. Wake up and smell the money.
As far as the finale goes, it was okay. The death scene felt tacked-on and contrived. It was a heroic death, but they've saved team members from easier stuff than that before, so it seemed out of place. And if you're going to waste a character, do it like they did in Serenity: before or at least during the big fight scene, so you know the kid gloves are off and anything can happen. Don't just go "oh and Wally dies I guess - that's sad, right?"
However, I'm confident that his return would have been a part of the 3rd season somehow. They found Arsenal, we survived the first several episodes of Invasion without seeing all the original main cast yet they showed up anyway, and those Speed Force guys area always coming back from that stuff.
The real shame here is that the bulk of this season was dedicated to introducing new characters, as they only had license to use a handful throughout most of the first season. Now many/most of them are fleshed out, which leaves a lot of potential for a more development in a 3rd season, but alas.
I hear there is a video game coming out that takes place between seasons 1 and 2 which might be interesting (though it's a licensed product, so it'll probably suck). I wonder if they'll continue the story at all in some kind of comic book form.

Oh, I know, I was actually agreeing that I've seen the YJ merchandise, too. But I was also making the point that it probably wasn't selling because there is buckets of the stuff on the shelves and it's finding its way into bargain bins. Never a good sign.

Never a good sign. ~TWF I'm no expert on what makes toys sell or not sell, but I suspect it had something to do with the fact that they were modeled (in appearance) after the equally unsuccessful toy line for Justice League Unlimited. The trend in action figures seems to be toward ultra-realism, even if the toy is based on a show with a less realistic animation style.

Could be, yeah. I think it's a mistake of them to bank on YJ selling toys, though. The demographic includes a lot of older people who just like to watch, or who would rather spend their money cosplaying or going to conventions or whatever - and none of that goes to WB/DC. Sure, a lot of teenage and adult fans probably buy toys and figures, but apparently it wasn't as much as they expected and it feels like that's their fault, not the show's.
My consolation is that the people who made the show are still in the business and will eventually be attached to some other project. I was super bummed out about Spectacular Spiderman getting canned, but some of those people went on to make Young Justice, so who knows what's in store next.
EDIT: Just heard from a friend that at least part of the show's demise may have been in due to contract/licensing issues over Milestone characters like Rocket. But if that's the case, I don't know why they couldn't just write her out of the show; it's not as though she or Icon or even Static were that integral.

On a different note... I saw previews for the Teen Titans show! Looks like crap! Looks like a 5 and under anime show. Like in that Ultimate Spider-Man tv show when they do those cut-scenes to try and be funny... Thats what the animation looks like. Looks like they're pandling to little kids. I'm definately not watching it. They lost fans with these decissions big time.
My son and I watched YJ, we will not be wtching Teen Titns. I'm sorry.

My brother wouldn't blame you. He watched a commercial for it and his response was pretty much "What the hell did they do it?!". I might give it a try, but it is obvious that he won't. By the way, are the voice actors from the original show part of this new one? Because they sound awfully familiar.

I hate to drag up dead threads, but I discovered Young Justice this weekend...and marathoned both seasons. It was an incredibly compelling show for "just an animated series" and found myself getting honestly invested in these characters. I'll admit, I'm a 32 year old man and Miss Martian's storylines hit me right me in the feels. What a great example of what the genre and medium are capable of.

I find I really miss the show, too. It had its flaws but a lot of strengths, too.
So sad that it's been replaced by the crappy Teen Titans show - which is doubly depressing to fans of the original Teen Titans show!
At least I still have a couple seasons of Korra to look forward to.

And I still have Ultimate Spider-Man to fall back on. USM has the exact opposite tone of YJ, but at least the writers embrace the goofy and play it off well.

In that case you might actually like the new Teen Titans. It's also goofy.
