The definition you listed doesn't go into detail as to what constitutes "using" someone. I think that's where we have different perspectives on the same definition. For example, I don't see Xavier as "using" the X-Men, so much as he's recruiting them and working with them. I can live with that. The definition of pawn is specific but the term about using people isn't as clear cut. I do agree with that statement. There's also the detail of the X-Men, Cyclops specifically, throwing Xavier out of the X-Men. Pawns can't do that. It can and it does happen. There are several words that can describe such actions such as betrayal, treason, or in some cases even mutiny if you're at sea. Also, a cult is usually something religious, and I don't think the X-Men are a religious institution by any means. Key word Usually, because there were, and are cults that are based more around sociology than religion. I do not think the X-Men are a full blown cult, but they do have defined cult like characteristics that are cult like. They would be more like a social cult than a religious cult

Can't we all just agree to disagree?

Can't we all just agree to disagree? Sure but then we'll just argue about why we're disagreeing anyway, so we skip that step.

Way to ruin my peacekeeping moment. Yes that was a joke.

I think, bi-annually, we should all find a central location, go there, make sure there's booze there, and probably just start talking and drinking and see where it goes.

It can and it does happen. There are several words that can describe such actions such as betrayal, treason, or in some cases even mutiny if you're at sea. But in this fictional example, the argument, I assumed, is that the real decisive power that the other X-Men have always had is accounted for or otherwise controlled by the telepathic powers of Xavier. But if Xavier got kicked out, it basically proves that the X-Men were free moral agents at that point, and moreover, have always been. Cultish tendencies... yeah, but anything with a singular leader that's not mainstream can be given the same criticism, can't it?

It means that as much as saying that any pawn wasn't a pawn when they were being used and then rebelled. In short, it just meant they weren't being pawns when they voted him off the Island, and most of the X-Men were just fallowing somebody else then anyway.

That... is a totally invalid observation.

Really, a worded "Nu-uh" lol. You just be tired from that 45 minutes of cardio today. I'm just teasing you man, but that's kind of disappointing coming from you. I mean, we have contrasting opinions, but I actually enjoy reading your perspective on things.
On a side not this is the entire conversation is invalid and irrelevant. What do any of Xavier's teachings matter in real life? They mean absolutely nothing because until I meet somebody who shoots lighting out of their *ss or some weird sh*t I don't care about the X-Men in real world situations.

Actually, it was intended to be more or less a "nuh-uh" So, disappointing as it may have been, it apparently translated well even over the internet.
