Since Dr. Who was mentioned on the board I've been reading up on him. I've only seen like one episode, but after reading it I can see where Sliders stole the idea of Dr. Who from, except Dr. Who is allot smarter than Mallory Quinn

Yeah, it seems like a fun show. When I get the time I'll probably get to watch more of the episodes. I think it's genius on how The Dr. Changes all the time, and it's how they carry on the storyline, and still keep the same character while changing things about him. They tried that in Sliders, but it flopped.
I do think it's awesome though they David Tennant and Jerry O'Connel have acted together in a law show though.
It's weird, because it's not the only law show that sci fi actors have stared together on. William Shatner (Star Trek Captain Kirk), James Spader (Stargate Movies: Daniel Jackson), and Rene Auberjonois (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Odo) were all in Boston Legal together.

Doctor Who has been on since 1963 dude, if anything Sliders got their idea from them.

That is what I meant to post. I can see now that I typed that wrong, but you're right, and that is what I meant to say, oops. Thanks for bringing that to my attention though. It's been edited. I must to have not been paying attention when I posted it the first time. I knew that Dr. Who had been out since the 60's, I just screwed up when I typed that.

Huh? How come I didn't mistake the posts for saying that Doctor Who borrowed ideas from Sliders? I only read as what F-Bomb meant for it to say.

I saw the new season two and three when they aired in the US but missed out on four and five because of Sci-Fi’s (or however they spell it now) scheduling weirdness. I’ve since gone back and checked out one and four (and the new movies and Torchwood) from my local library and plan on doing the same with five if I can even find their copy when it isn’t checked out. I’ve thought about just buying it but the Doctor Who DVD’s are ridiculously expensive.
It’s a really good show (especially with David Tenant playing the character as someone who is just having FUN) but some of the companions (Rose, Donna, and some of the one-shot movie girls) annoy the heck out of me.

Aww. I liked Rose. Didn't really care for Donna however, but she kinda grew on me after a while. Especially in her season finale role.

Yeah, Rose was the best of the recent companions. We, the audience, were always informed that Martha was amazing and brilliant and everything, but we rarely got to see it on screen. Donna had some of the best comedic scenes, but I found her character annoying. Amy Pond is okay (and I'll admit, she's easy on the eyes!) but she's my second favourte to Rose.
I haven't enjoyed this most recent season that much. The fellow playing the new Doctor is good, but I think he tries a little too hard (so did David Tennant in the beginning, but he settled in very quickly), and I don't like that the writing has taken a more bleak tone. This newest Doctor seems to have gotten over his aversion to guns and salutes, and seems less confident and more stressed. Not steps in the right direction, IMHO.
Still, it's a fun show. ^__^

The only real problem with Martha is that she can’t possibly measure up to the Doctor. She has the same problem that Stephanie Brown (aka Batgirl aka Robin aka Spoiler) has in the Batman comics. She’d be awesome in a real world setting but she exists in a fiction universe where the bar has been set too high for an actual badass normal*. Still, she’s the only one who seemed to try and I hope she returns if they ever bring Torchwood back.
I just don’t get the love for Rose. I don’t hate her like I do Donna but I still find the affection both the fans and the other characters have for her to be baffling. The Doctor loves her. Mickey loves her. Jack loves her (okay, that don’t count). You guys love her. I just don’t think she’s that special.
I just can’t stand Donna.
Amy seems cute but I’ve yet to see any of her episodes.
*Gotham is a place where actual Olympic level athletes can’t really aspire to be much more than the Batfamily’s punching bag.

Well put about Martha. It really is futile trying to compete with the Doctor that way.
About Rose, I liked her character development more than her character itself, really. As she spent time with the Doctor, she became more confident and courageous, and learned to think laterally, similar to the way he does. It was fun watching the transition from fairly ordinary girl to, essentially, a heroine over the course of a couple seasons. Her relationship with the doctor also progressed more naturally (read: slowly, but more steadily) than the other recent companions, though I felt the romance at the end to be a little heavy-handed (at least for Dr. Who).
I don't love Rose, exactly, but if I had to pick a favourite of the bunch, it wouldn't be much of a headscratcher.

I think TWF covered all the points I'd bring up. I liked her character development, I liked that she was a normal person in the beginning, not a doctor (Martha), not an annoying brat (Donna), just normal and everyday.
