...*Raises hand* Wait, my core rulebooks don't have a Warforged in them. Is there more than one type of the 3.5 Player Handbooks? If there are, then dang it. I won't be able to get anymore now that we are well into the 4.0 era. Warforged is in the Eberron book. They're robots, but magical ;D

If possible give as much heads up on what system we'll be using. I'll be able to order any books I want in advance (Can also do the same for anyone that wants, can give you my wholesale discount )

They're animated constructs of wood and metal; a very steampunk concept brought into Eberron. I think they're a great race, although I don't think I'd be interested in playing one if we went with the Eberron game. I'm thinking some kind of a Swashbuckler would be a fun route to go, although I'm not sure if I want to go with a Bard, Fighter, or Rogue as my base class.
If I don't go with that, I may want to play a Paladin, but I'm not really sure how they're treated in Eberron, since divinity isn't really a thing. I'll have to read up on the setting to decide what I really want to do, I suppose!

It looks like Eberron is the popular favorite! If people want to talk concepts or design with me, I'm happy to do it over PM (we also might do a preemptive/rehearsal session Wednesday June 1st to introduce everybody.) As for running a game without a grid... I'm looking at possible options right now (although I like WK's adapting solution for SAGA.) I also am looking at possible program options, or I might just use my webcam/manipulate a numbered/lettered grid on my Desktop and share it for us to use (although the one problem I'd see with that is having notes/book pdf's up at the same time.) They're animated constructs of wood and metal; a very steampunk concept brought into Eberron. Complete Warrior has the Swashbuckler class, as well. Divinity is a thing, the gods are just not in direct communication with the rest of the world, and many people revere forces as often as they do powers (like the Silver Flame or the Path of Light or the various Druid factions.)

Isn't the Swashbuckler class a PrC, though?
I'll hit you up on fbook chat next time we're both on so we can talk concepts. I don't really have any access to these books, though, so I'll probably need some kind souls to donate some time to help me draft things up!
If we're doing this over some kind of video chat client, can't we just have one board at your place, DK, that we can move things through? That said, I never used a board until I started playing D&D 4E, and we never had trouble. Distances can be estimated, you know?

PS: How much of a discount are we talking? Whatever they charge me wholesale. And being books I can ship them media mail which should be much cheaper. Will ofcourse ship however requested/paid for though. If you're after anything specific, let me know and I'll get prices. EDIT: Weird, it had me edit your post last when I posted this, instead of quoteing...oh well.

Isn't the Swashbuckler class a PrC, though? No, it's a Fighter-light 20 level class. Very fitting for Eberron, actually.

For Saga SW, I used a website called TinyChat because it was simple. Skype has a business conference video feature, but to get a bigger group together it gets expensive. I totally run 3.5 without a map most of the time; it's useful to show positioning, but strategically positioned dice on a dry erase board work just as well for that. Some players like the tactical board-game aspect of it, however.
The main thing that drove my video Saga game back to my tabletop was technical difficulties. Headsets messing up, settings not working right, power outages, etc. I also discovered that it was difficult to keep everyone's attention in a video RPG; too easy to play Farmville or whatever when its not your turn -- and I hate repeating myself!

I disagree that the Fighter is a light class, I think its easily on the top 4 most powerful 3.5 classes, but thats neither here nor there I guess. If your primary concern is balance, you won't like the Swashbuckler. It sacrifices defense AND damage for mobility and the totally intangible "cool factor." Is it as good as other full BAB classes? Not by a long shot, no. I've never played one, but I ran a game (Eberron, as a matter of fact) with one in it, and in all honesty I did notice that since he was the main "fighter" of the group, I had to moderate fights very closely to keep him from getting overwhelmed.

If we do go with D&D, I totally want to play a Rogue or a Wizard. I traditionally play one of those two classes, but the last few games I've been in I decided to branch out and try some others. Now I really want to go back to my old stomping grounds!

How much mobility does he gain? I could easily get the same impression of a character by just going Fighter/Bard and not having to worry about being gimped, otherwise. Fighters get enough bonus feats where I don't think I'd miss too many of the bonus features.
I found a site that posts the write-up, and the Swashbuckler doesn't even really look to get decent at all until around level 5, although the Intelligence bonus to damage is nice, at least at lower levels.

I really don't recall. I think they get things like Uncanny Dodge, but I can't even really be certain of that enough to go on record
