Sorry, the store just marks the price down because they like driving everyone else out of business. I knew their reputation of being jerks was too strong for that to have been the case D:<

Yeah, it seems like there's always one game store in every area that does a good markdown on a lot of stuff, in an effort to be THE game store in the area. Joke's on them though; pretty soon there will be no such thing as a brick-and-mortar game store anymore.

I've got both books, and the only difference is that DC Handbook is for the DC Universe and includes official write-ups for DC Character from the Pre-reboot universe. The rules are the same. So, if you are a big fan of DC I'd go with this book.

the DC book is more expensive, but nice to have. I have both, so eh.
I also plan on picking up the heroes and villains book as well.

I stumbled and tripped through character creation for M&M 1e and 2e like it was some kind of minefield. I just couldn't get on with it, no matter how much I wanted to like the books (and I did like the layout, art, the way the game played was ok...). Is DCA/M&M 3e character creation easier/better than the earlier versions, or just tweaked versions of the previous games? I understand stats have gone, and instead the stat is the bonus (think I got that right) and they use the DC Heroes (MEGs) scale for measurement (a plus point - I own everything ever published for that game and love it).
Just... nnnngh... character... creation...
It would go something like - think of concept, read book for 1 hour, write stuff down. Fill in blanks, need to read book for more hours. Add options and tweak... more hours. Try to make it all add up. Fail. Read book some more. Give up and use an archetype with a name and origin.
With other games (MSH, DCH, MURPG, GH, even V&V) I could turn characters out in minutes. DC Heroes I used to not bother with the books, the AP cost table was so burned into my head up to about 30 APs... With M&M? Gahhhh... Someone tell me it's much much better than previous versions and I'll maybe take a punt on the PDF version unless there's a cheap copy on ebay somewhere...

Character creation is better in 3E, but I don't know if I'd say easier. It still requires a lot of cross-referencing and stuff.

I need to get ahold of it, mostly to see if I can resurrect Magnificent, AKA Owen White, stage magician extraordinaire. He was basically what happens when you cross Copperfield, Batman, and Booster Gold - a self-aggrandizing dick of a stage magician who decided the next big publicity stunt was professional vigilantism. He had a clause in his contract that directly stated that his name must appear in bold font in all official records, including any newspaper that requested an interview.
I loved that guy.

You think you can just walk back in here after disappearing forever and post stuff? ;D

Seems to be what I just did, yeah.
So the odds seem to be in my favor.

Maybe you're just imagining it. You ever think of that?
