It's fun to stay at the YMCA? I guess they had to modernize things because leather chaps, cowboy outfits, indians and what not are somewhat old hat.

The Village People really could use a superhero to replace some of the old members. Sure Brokeback Mountain shows us gay cowboys never went out of style but do they really need an Indian? And what is the guy in green (with his arm on the biker) supposed to be anyway?

Well, that's from like, 30 years ago. I'm sure a few of them have moved on to other things by now The builder was the gay one if I recall. All the others were straight guys, but the general consensus was that they were all a bit weird for dressing up in costumes for... well I don't know what reason. To be different? I think a group like that would do well these days - make a change from all the pop idol/x factor cruise ship standard drivel that gets chucked out into the charts for 10 minutes before it fades away (in time for the next years pop idol/x factor)

Truth be told, as much as I despise disco, they're actually not a terrible band. "In the Navy" is my jam.

My love for “In the Navy” grew a lot when my bother joined. Of course he HATES that song now. Ah, I guess I’m so used to camouflage that I’ve forgotten the old uniforms.

Some are cool (Supergirl), some bland (Black Canary) but the cartoon look is quite fine.

Some of the heavier, baggier outfits, especially those with loose pants, seem really impractical and look sort of silly on that level; otherwise, I love the idea and I like the art style. I think Electra's is my favourite.
Makes me miss Runaways.

You aren't alone, I loved that series until after Whedon passed by. In fact the hardcovers are one of the few books I have in English (together with Nextwave for example, the Spanish translation was awful).

I got to meet Adrian Alphona, the co-creator. He's a suuuuuuuuuuper nice guy, and it was really satisfying to be able to tell him how much I loved Gertrude Yorkes. She's such an atypical comic book character. ~TWF

Apparently Adrian is returning to comics to do the new all-female X-Men series. Unfortunately I don’t really care for the writer he’s working with (Brian Wood).

Hmm, maybe I can be convinced to check it out after all... it's the new Uncanny X-Force, right? I read the old stuff, but haven't looked at the new volume yet. When I met him he was working on this project that I think was called "27", but I can't find anything about it. It was an indy project, I think, so maybe it either isn't done or had to be sidelined or something. The story sounded awesome and I really wanted to see it. Alas. I hope to get a chance to see him at a convention again soon. Good call! That is, unless you count her Ultimate version, where she's a psychiatrist rocking the whole "sexy librarian" look: ~TWF
