I think this is actually the third time we've agreed, but I haven't exactly been keeping count.
But yeah. There's a world of difference between "I'm bored, so I'll stat up some characters and make a new action or two." and "Why on earth isn't there a Fan Four Guide?! We need to fix that! Who's with me?!?!?!"

Easy Kai, we (or at least I) know what makes a core book. In short:
1. Introduction- since this is a F4 book, it should have a brief history of the team, with most important plot hooks and stuff that F4 brought to Marvel worlds, maybe with some different versions of characters (like they did with Hulk).
2. CAD's are placed second.
3. Suppliments, new actions, modifiers, challanges and stuff. Most of this stuff is taken from characters introduced from point 2, which is why I'd rather start with characters. Finding some solid number of that kind of stuff isnt hard- this boards is full of it, just take a look at some cooler CAD's around. This one could cover mostly corrected version of Ghost Rider (becouse the one in Spidey guide cries for better one).
4. Some information from the world, based on the books theme. Spidey had New York, Avengers had the major villains and their worlds, so I think Fantastic Four should include different dimensions and other marvel worlds(Marvel Zombies? Ultimate? 2099?). Maybe even space, explore more about Galactus and Kree/Skrull stuff that wasnt covered earlier? Heck, we could include even Exiles! We'll do a research and find out whats missing, what to do and what to leave out.
5. Each core book has a GM related section, about making missions and teams. What should we cover this time, its up to a debate. Since its good to relate to source material, how about making different dimensions or alternate realities? A quick guide on how to make an interresting world, what to include, what should we pay attention to and stuff.
6. Scenario to play on- this one is also pretty easy to make, just as long as its good and playable. Any good GM will be able to make it, and others are also there to rate it and provide feedback and stuff.
7. Last section covers mostly equipment that appeared on characters, vehicles and stuff that wasnt covered earlier in the guide. I'd also add few things, like: -Metamorphosis based weapons- becouse Avengers guide did a really poor job explaining it -Building vehicles- like, FINALLY! (actually, vehicles could use some more feedback too)
But its best to start with CAD's, mostly becouse they are easier to do and there are a lot of them, and a lot of opinions. And when you make all the CAD's, you think to yourselves "Hey, we did so much already, lets get motivated and do some more"... As long as we can get enough people dedicated to job, its more then just a dream.

If there are 20 CAD's sitting around which spawned the idea for 4 or 5 abilities and a few new options to existing options then we already have a big body of work to deal with. The more work gets done the more other people will start wanting to help.

Since Marvel doesn't publish the system anymore, any request to use anything is going to get either ignored or turned down.

Besides, its better if someone actually puts some effort into it and write it down by himself- there's a better feeling to it. Same with bio's on CAD's- its just way better done by ourselves (its not like its hard to do- we make decent CAD's all the time).

The thing that makes bios hard is the size restriction. If you haven't done it before... writing with column restrictions is a pain in the butt.

It can be done. I mean, its not like we're going to include ALL of the story in single bio, only basics of basics. Imagine having to write whole Spiderman or Wolverine bio on a single card, along with powers and personality.

LOL I've written comic book dialogue and newspaper articles (both of which revolve around fitting what needs saying into a specific available space), I know it can be done. But its not easy.

I have question : 1 for the different version it must be : Things old and new, ultimate and Rebirth to. Things of exile issue 35/36 ... Or doom : Old, scientifique past, magic past, 2099, Ultimate ...
2 Why don't make the new venom CAD ?
3 Hat Master, shannon ventura and PSycho-man are they count.
4 If it's ok with you, i'm working in C.A.D : Chamion, Shannon Ventura (Miss Marvel II and She things), Molecule Man and Super Skrull.

Playah, if you were left out of the unofficial Fan Four guide project, I think I would never again have any respect for the person in charge of it. I mean, you've demonstrated that you know what goes into making a guide so well, I think you'd make a great leader for this project if you'd want to lead. (Of course, God knows that I'd offer to lead, except I'm positively terrible at most aspects of it.)
Still, I think we've got enough people interested that we could maybe start... If enough of us know the history of the Fantastic Four well enough to write the introduction, history, bios, and that stuff. Seriously, who among us can write 200 words (that's an estimate, and probably a bad one) on the Mole Man's background?! What about Air-Walker's? Uatu's? Medusa's? Heck, even the writing style is part of making it "feel" like the original books, and a simple info-dump about what they've done still doesn't provide us with an indication of their personality.
Then again, I may have just had a brilliant idea. Hold auditions for writers! Ask board members to submit their own bios for characters, and then have a panel of judges decide which ones seem most like the bios presented in the official books.
