You're right. It's all about that base. No Rebels. Seth Green's wife can just do whatever she wants because she's got all of that Robot Chicken money...

For me, MH has its limitations, but its a nice system for fast, fun play live. I've yet to see it really succeed as a PbP game (because it involves so much counter-rolling) I was amused because the week I overcame my distaste for the dice-based system, and was super excited about their upcoming treatment of AoA (of which we all know that I'm a huge fanboy)... They closed shop.

Anyone on here ever play Exalted? I'd love to see what this group of players could do with it's background and setting, I'm just not sure I have the GM chops to tackle running it by myself.. Any takers?
For those with no idea what Exalted is, it's a White Wolf game that's somewhat like Scion but waaay more over the top.

I'm broadly interested in the Exalted idea, but I don't have any of the sourcebooks.

Solars and Dragonblooded are probably the easiest point of entry for people new to the game. They're also the two I'm familiar with.

Pretty sure DK is an Exalted fan. I tried once, the setting was awesome... The mechanics, eh.

Exalted is anime + terrible mechanics. That's a hard pass for me.

2.5 please..
And Exalted doesn't have to be anime, I've played some excellent non-anime games of Exalted. A lot of it comes down to theme and flavor in the depiction of the world.

Only an anime fan could look at that setting and think it could ever be anything other than anime. If for no other reason, the hopelessly complex setting and ridiculously over the top powers just scream a bunch of weeaboos in a room playing game developer
