313 Background & Rules
Blood wept from dozens of wounds, so that Thor could no longer know where one ended and another began. Sif, The Warriors Three, treacherous Loki, even the All-Father, lay dead on the steps of the palace. Heimdall had fallen when the enemies came through the gate into Asgard. It had been hours since Thor had seen another Asgardian alive, and he knew that he would not last much longer. He didn't recognize the enemy, but he was still certain that this was long-prophecied Ragnarok. The brave dead of Valhalla had given their lives a second time. Fenris Wolf had been unleashed, and it, too, now lay dead. Thor had no doubt that soon he would see Jormangundr, and face his own inevitable fate.
Lifting his eyes to the sky, he lifted Mjolnir and shouted an ancient battle cry. Lightning arced down to touch the hammer, then surround Thor himself. The Thunder God felt immediately revitalized, but he knew it couldn't last. His life force was fading quickly. He surveyed the destruction surrounding him, and then he saw it, at long last rising up from the swirling void; the Midgard Serpent, spewing poisonous vapors from it's jaw. Thor laughed as if he had just heard one of Volstagg's jests. "Come you old snake! Come and swallow the Odinson, and see if the taste agrees with you! The light of Asgard dies not easily..." He paused mid-challenge, his gaze drawn across the rainbow bridge to the gate, and even in his battle lust, he saw clearly; the gate was stuck open. Heimdall had fallen, and the things that had ruined Asgard had a free and open path to Midgard.
"You shall have to wait, beast. Thor must complete one final labor, but fret not! I shall be killing you soon enough!" With that, Thor launched himself across the bridge, charging through armed would-be attackers as if they weren't even there. They wounded him, and wounded him deeply, but he paid them no heed. He reached the gate in no time, and looked upon the corpse of Heimdall with the pride only one warrior could feel for the good death of another. "Rest, now, sleepless Heimdall." As Thor had suspected, the gate stood open, but he saw no way to close it. He turned, and saw that his enemies were closing in, surrounding the entrances to the gate room, and there was still the serpent to defeat. With grim determination, Thor looked to the weapon that had been his birthright. "I wished to take you into battle with me one last time, Mighty Mjolnir, but it appears that here is where our friendship ends." With that, Thor raised the hammer, and drove it down into the center of the gate. Even Thor Odinson had never experienced such a sound...

The end has arrived. It started in the outer realms; Asgard and the other dimensions beyond the physical realm of men have fallen. Soon, the final enemy will make it's way to Earth, and then... an eternity of darkness. But the heroes of Earth will not go down without a fight. They have struggled through seemingly unbeatable odds before, and this time will be no different. This is not a time for The Avengers, or the Fantastic Four, or the X-Men. This is the time for heroes. Who will stand against inevitability?
... okay, so this is the "end of the world scenario" event for the current incarnation of the 313 Universe. I'm looking for people to play the "heroes" of the scenario (including people who might be considered "villains" under more ordinary circumstances). I'm not looking to set a stone count, but if you're thinking "cosmic character" you're already in the wrong ballpark. This is the final, shining hour of mankind in this reality, and it is men, not gods or monsters, that will take up the banner. PLEASE pay attention to the history included in the link above when considering characters you might like to play.
