Hello every one.
I used to play here many years ago but after a few of the games i was in died i stopped playing.
And now after a long time i now feel like coming back to the game. But after looking at the forums it all seems kinda dead.
Now my question ''is it still wort playing here or is this forum just to thin at the moment to really get invested again? (buying the books again etc)''
Also and i know this might be the wrong section but if you have an active game i could get into let me know, i just want to start gaming again so i'm up for a lot of things.
Kinds regards, Ruhal Foyls.
PS, i lost my old acc so i just made a new one.

Hello, I was about to reply to say on how many games I take part, and how active the board can be, but that is besides the question, so I'll answer from my very personal point of view.
This board is full of wonderful people, generous enough to share an acting part of their stories with me. I take part some really cool games that are weeks old, and some other amazing ones that have been running since I got here two and a half years ago and even longer. All those games, no matter they age, have the spark of the imagination of the creator behind them. The characters that populate those worlds are interesting on their own, not to forget about the lovely people behind them. I do my best to play another role, to instill a character with a life, sometimes fleeting and short-lived, others lasting long and growing along. In all those games I feel eager to know more, I get surprised, I smile and I laugh, and sometimes even cry.
So yeah, at least for me it's worth it. But I'm afraid that only you can try to answer that question for yourself.

Just curious, Ruhal, what handle did you used to go by? Anyway, I'll tell you what keeps me running games here, even if our player base has run a little thin at times and updates can easily drag to weekly at best. I've been lucky to get to run a bunch of great games here (I'm really not trying to toot my own horn here, but it's true!) but I've been even luckier to get to play in some great ones too! Both of those have little to do with me, and more with the depth of quality players and clever writers and artists in their own right. My own work really shines when supported by such talented people, and the way you guys can shape something I'm working on into something better than the sum of its parts can't be bottled or recreated. If it could, then I'd probably just do that and apply that to my writing all the time. I've actually been thinking of starting a new game (and doing one of those "come up with a bunch of concepts and get people to vote on them" polls), more details on that as they develop, naturally. I'm also looking for new players for my Silver Age Marvel game The Guardians. PM me with a concept, 40+10 stones, if you don't have the books I can help you put together your CAD. tl;dr. Yes. Yes it is.

Hey guys, remember me?
I think this site can be worthwhile. I'm not usually a player, but I do love to write write-ups.

My opinion is this:
If I join a game, and I have fun if only for a couple of months, then it was worth it. Nothing lasts forever, and most games are fun aplenty for however long they last. It is sad when a game dies, but that never stopped me. If one dies, I join another. If that one dies, I join another. If one isn't fast enough to my taste, I join several. In the end, this board is my favorite hobby since the last X years (stopped counting, lol).

I'm of the "better to hang around the General Discussions and off the games" mindset, but I'm sure there are plenty worth playing in. If you've frequented here in the past, then you know there are some solid players around the boards and they're still active.
I second DK's question, though! What was your old handle?

Thanks for the reply guys, Guess i think i will look for a game here after all, seeing the passion people still have for this game (and i found my old pdf's saving me some money ^^) I sadly don't remember the name of my old acc (that is why i made a new one) but the character i remember most i played on here was an candy addicted samurai who could teleport (and almost got ripped to shreds by deathpool after i tried storming his room in a game XD) i beleave his name was muramasa but i should go back to my old hard drive to check that

Candy Addicted Samurai... Yep, you'll fit in with the current run of people here just fine. Really, the games here are great, I'm just sorry my posting isn't more consistent. On that note I have some writing to do tonight!

I've been in plenty of games that have died Sadly after on a few weeks. It happens. I'm currently in one of my longest running Ganges right now with dorknight and is run by Andrew. I have to say that it is the best game I've ever been in. I know that there are a couple of games that have been running for a long time as well. It just takes the right combo of people and game concept.
Sometimes life happens. It's killed a couple of games but you move on and find the next. Yes some games are slow but that's the nature of pbp games.

Agree with the various points. No one starts out with a game intending to slow down or stop, just real life calling and that's that. Plus the activity on this site and others tends to wax and wane depending on whether the sun is shining. Generally (I find) gets busier over winter as people don't want to leave the house as much.
As for MURPG, I've seen a few non MURPG games on here (and played in a few over the years - I think I was active around here in 2003 the first time round) so I'd suggest throwing out some suggestions as to other game systems/genres. You never know, might get some takers - we're all gamers here, and tastes vary.

I've been around here for over 5 years now, and it's the community that keeps me going. Whether I'm running a game or joining one, I know that there are ace roleplayers to play with, and somehow that keeps things from getting stale, even year after year.
