This is an idea I had a while ago. I made a certain character with the Unleashed SFX on a power set called The Force. (I'm slightly sorry for that terrible joke.) I also noticed that some of the lightsaber combat styles could easily be SFX. For example, Ataru might allow you to use your acrobatics specialty instead of (or in addition to) your combat die.
I also considered some terminology changes. Perhaps change plot points to Force points (or maybe leaving them as is) and change the doom pool to the Dark Side or something. You know, to give it more of a Star Wars feel.
I have started on some character data files, but I don't have them ready right now. Any thoughts about how to tweak the system for the Star Wars setting?

You probably wouldn't have to tweak much at all, really. I would put caps on Abilities based on species (so a Human might have a Strength maximum of d8, but a Wookie can get a d10) and probably ditch the Team/Buddy/Solo dice in favor of something more flavorful to Star Wars that confers a similar benefit.

Tech/Combat/Force or something like that? I like where you're going, but I feel like this is going to be abused by players who just constantly find ways to only ever use their best die.

Actually, from experience running a D&D hack of HM with a similar set up you're pretty well right. I used a Might/Magic/Guile set up with everyone on d10 Guile. I had to start telling people what they were using on their action as everyone was justifying use of Guile all the time.. Though admittedly Tech/Combat/Force is a little more clean cut then that was.
