Final Fantasy: The Dreaming When you woke up this morning, you could not have guessed the strangeness that would surround you this day. You were heading to work, going to the gym, doing your thing, whatever that was, when suddenly the world began changing around you. Now you have to deal with that change, and come full circle to discover the source of the change.
You band together for security in this, the strangest of times. Can you come to terms with this? Or will you fall to insanity.------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basically I want to run a campaign with my Final Fantasy rules. It's been a while since I've written a campaign, but here goes. The basic premise is simple. You've lived a normal life so far, and suddenly you're thrust into this world that is alien, and somewhat familiar. Stones: 15 + 5 Challenge Stones / 40 + 10 Challenge Stones (See Below) Extra Stones: +2 Challenge: Child of the Apocolypse. This doesn't count towards your 10 stone maximum for challenges. This challenge is applied to your 40 + 10 character. Cut Off Date: Midnight, 1/17/2015 Max Players: 6 Selection Style: Quality over 'First come First serve' Accepted Books: All, including my Final Fantasy BookBanned Actions: Super Powered Actions not in my Final Fantasy book are banned. Your 15 + 5 character cannot have any super powered actions even if they're from my Final Fantasy book. Special House Rules: - Durability is split into Health, Energy Pool (x3 = Energy) and Energy Regeneration, so no death spiral - When creating a character, you're going to create 2. The first is before what happens happens. It's you in a normal light, the person you were at the beginning of this campaign. the second is what you are after the first issues end. You with your Final Fantasy abilities. - Healing Factors are at -2MN due to them not granting extra Energy Regeneration and ARE available to your 40 + 10 characters - Deep Reserves and Energy Battery are not needed - Power in Flux is an acceptable Modifier as you COULD gain your powers randomly. - Wealth isn't allowed to your 40 + 10 character in the beginning. You get no rebate for this, but you will be given some measure of wealth in game through your exploits. All character's 15 + 5 characters have +1 Wealth, but can choose to gain a 0 MN for 1 stone back, or -1 for the normal 2 stones back.

The only way to stop me from getting in this will be to downright kill me. With a stick. Attached to a chain. With a chainsaw at the end. Swung in my general direction.
Yes, yes and yes.
Do we get Character Jobs, and Dreamshards and all that, or do we simply create our basic chars?

For the 15 + 5 character, it's just Joe Schmoe, but for your 40 + 10 stone characters all bets are off, but remember you can only equip one Dreamshard at a time. The 40 + 10 stone characters are supposed to be your adventuring characters with the 15 + 5's being your normal starter.

I'm aware of that, but I meant, do we automatically start with at least one Dreamshard? Also... what was Power in Flux again?

Power in Flux is a modifer that you can place as many stones as you want into. You gain 3 stones per 2 spent to gain power later... Basically turns your character into a Power Package character for me to design later Also, your 40 + 10 stone characters will have dreamshards yes, feel free to choose one that fits your character theme.

Aiming for a Black Mage. Just so you guys know. EDIT: Make that possibly a Summoner/Black Mage, if my build allows it in the end.

Is Efficient a thing? EDIT: Also, I noticed that the Monk's Dreamshard granted the following bonus: "increase healing factors by 1 step (If no healing factor gain Rapid Recovery)"But now that you made it clear that Healing Factors do not add to Energy, does the part in parentheses change to something else or is it simply ignored?) Not that I'm gonna be a monk anyway, but others wanna know. EDIT II: If we have spent stones, say, on Vehicle operations, Computers, etc in our normal form (a.k.a normal actions which probably have nothing to do with a Final Fantasy Universe unless we're talking about playing the game, lol), do we have to re-buy them as part of our 40+10 version because it would make sense to have the same knowledge, such as knowing how to drive, even though there might be no cars in the FF verse? Or should we truly make them as the same base character, but with possibly entirely different actions?

It changes to (If no healing factor gain 2x natural healing)
And your 40 + 10 character should have SOMETHING to do with your 15 + 5 character. I'm not saying you can't retrain actions, but you should still be recognizable as your 15 + 5 afterwards.

Also, I've reconsidered my no Super Powered action thing... Just run things by me first as I don't want this to be a Supers game, I want it to be a Final Fantasy game. But an interesting question was brought up to be, and I approved it, so yeah, run any Marvel-esque actions by me first.

How about Fear (for my Black Mage-ish character; makes sense to me ) and Precognitive Flashes? Maybe also Enhanced Vision (Sense auras and magical forces)?
