So I am new to the MURPG and I was looking at claws, I was wondering what you do for the adamantium claws, do you buy armor penetration on your close combat, or do you buy adamantium skeleton and it apply to your claws, or is there a separate cost all together?

if you notice the armor pen states that it adds +3 per level to close combat the description of armor pen specifically mentions Wolverine's claws so that is how you would do it.

I was just confused since the thing said to buy Adamantium Claws to give them armor penetration, and Wolverine doesn't have armor penetration bought, he has Adamantium Claws and Adamantium skeleton bought and the armor penetration is under the adamantium claws. It was just a bit confusing about how they worded it on the claws description and how they put it under wolverine's sheet.

Because Armor pen requires a description of how. Wolverine has retractable claws Unless the claws are being used then his attacks do not armor pen. Putting the armor pen with the claws as opposed to the close combat action is correct. Just like if your character can create a sword that penetrates armor you will put that with the sword and not the close combat. It is simply the easiest way to notate how the action works at a glance.
If your fist were made of some sort of energy that penetrates armor and you could not turn it off you would put it with close combat itself.

I always thought it was +3 to claws. Forgot it specifically said +3 to CC. (Despite having the damn books for years) Learn something new every day.

If you look through the books, literally anyone with a vibranium or adamantium weapon has armor penetration. Thus implies that all things made from them get it. take all the people with the vibranium shields, whitch has literally no sharp edges, has armor penetration.

Yes those metals tend to rip through other metals... What is your point?

My point is, if you pay for the material, you automatically get AP. It even says in the book on page 68 in the first book under claws that, because adamantium was added to bone claws, it was GIVEN AP. no mention of cost increase. It stands to reason the same would apply to any weapon.

Yes the book also says you pay 6 stones or 3+cost level per weapon modifier whichever is more + 1 stone for such times.... Those items still cost stones...

My point is, because he has an admantium skeleton and retractable claws, he gets armor penetration for free. According to an explicit statement in the definition of what he is asking about. Yes, you would pay for the weapon modifier, but claws technically don't count as such.
