Hey all you lovely people,
Netflix released a teaser trailer for their upcoming (April 10th) Daredevil series. Check it out:
I think it actually looks better than I expected. The best part is, the whole thing is being released on the same day, so if you have Netflix you can binge-watch it. ^__^
For those who don't know, this will be the first of five miniseries by Netflix. "AKA Jessica Jones" will be released next (probably either late this year, or more likely early 2016) followed by Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and then a final series called "The Defenders" that features a team-up of all four characters.

Liked the teaser (especially the fact that they kept his Catholicism in), hated the suit.

Liked the teaser (especially the fact that they kept his Catholicism in), hated the suit. I'm betting they'll get him in a proper suit later; that looks like his "this is my first time doing this and I don't know what I'm doing" suit that super heroes usually get in these things: Yeah, Tony kind of wins that category. lol It's also funny that he looks more like Iron Fist than Daredevil. If this show is good, I honestly can't wait to see all four of these characters. ~TWF

I'm sure we'll get a different suit eventually, though I'm depressingly certain that it'll be black and I still won't like it

I'd be very surprised if it has horns and stuff. They look like they're going with a pretty gritty feel. I bet you're right about the black, too, but that would be pretty disappointing.
I hope they actually use the name Daredevil at some point, too. I got pretty frustrated with everyone beating around the "Green Arrow" bush in a hurry.
Still, I like the grit for these characters. Feels appropriate, as long as they don't overdo it.

Grit on DD is great. The teaser gives me high hopes for this at least being watchable (also glad that my Kingpin fancast came true).
I'm sure Daredevil will get his costume, at least with reds in it, but wouldn't the yellow suit be great? Yeah? Anyb- okay...

Some, yes, I suppose... but this looks like they're risking pushing it too far.

Some, yes, I suppose... but this looks like they're risking pushing it too far. I mean, I guess it's inevitable when the baseline grit is so high. In order to distinguish the street level realness (well... as real as superheroes can be), you have to turn it up to 11. Do you all think that this means AKA Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will have a similar level of dark and gritty? Or do you think they'll each have a different style and feel?

Also, I'm just impressed that Daredevil managed to put together a costume that's all unified in color. Does he have a seamstress, or what? Or can his super sense also sense color?

That is actually my bigger concern; while Daredevil can be fairly gritty and still be good, I don't at all want to see Power Man or Iron Fist as "gritty" heroes... IF in particular, just doesn't fit that mold. Because the intent is to combine all four characters into one thing eventually, it seems to me (and maybe I'm just making stupid assumptions) that they'll go for a similar tone with all of them.

Not in the comics, at least not recently. In that case, I demand a scene where, when he first starts fighting crime, he runs out in a really loudly colored costume.

And yeah, that's my concern, too. Jessica Jones, I can see being gritty and dark just because her character has so much tragedy that it wouldn't make sense not to be like that. It would be kind of great to see Luke Cage and Iron Fist played up like old exploitation films to embrace their origins, but I doubt that'll happen. Maybe just one campy episode? Yeah? Also, are there any rumors about other casting? I'm unfamiliar with the actor playing Luke Cage, but think Krysten Ritter could do a bang-up job as Jessica Jones (based solely on seeing her in Breaking Bad). I'm also excited about David Tenant as Purple Man; I looked around at some of his other stuff after watching Who and his chops are solid. I think he'll play a great villain. But what about Iron Fist? Is there anything floating about for him?
