My only hope for IF is that they choose someone with a legit martial arts background and try to make them act rather than doing it the other way around.

Oh, scratch that. My other hope for IF is that they don't cast him as Tony Stark Junior. Superficially they're similar (wealthy guys who see money as more of a means to an end rather than an end in itself), and I know the "charming rich guy with a quirky sense of humor" thing has been successful for Marvel, but please let Danny Rand be his own character.

I'm not sure; I think it depends on how much forcing it takes to make him act. We definitely don't need another Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile kind of situation here.

I don't think the problem there was lack of acting ability because I'm not sure any acting ability was required for Guile 8) I think the problem there was that the script was pure garbage and even a great actor wouldn't have been able to do anything with it, much less Jean Claude Van Damme (who btw was really funny in "Welcome to the Jungle", but only by playing up his weaknesses). I mean, I wouldn't rate Raul Julia's performance in Street Fighter any better than JCVD's, and overall I think we'd have to agree that Raul Julia is a more talented actor than JCVD... and I mean right now, despite having been a corpse for quite some time.

Also, are there any rumors about other casting? I'm unfamiliar with the actor playing Luke Cage, but think Krysten Ritter could do a bang-up job as Jessica Jones (based solely on seeing her in Breaking Bad). I'm also excited about David Tenant as Purple Man; I looked around at some of his other stuff after watching Who and his chops are solid. I think he'll play a great villain. But what about Iron Fist? Is there anything floating about for him? All I've got is what I've read off the Wiki. I don't think they've cast Iron Fist or most of Luke Cage yet, since they aren't filming those for another year or so. ~TWF

Luke Cage was picked up some time ago: www.engadget.com/2014/12/23/netflix-marvel-aka-jessica-jones-luke-cage/As for Iron Fist... the Fraction/Brubaker/Aja approach probably is the fitting one as far as the vibe that things are getting, that would make Danny Rand more of a sloppy guy that doesn't even care about his money because he's having pulp adventures. Will see.

Yeah, I don't know anything about the dude playing Cage, so I can't rag on him yet.

Yeah, the only person they've cast for Luke Cage is Cage himself. I wonder if casting him so early means he might make small appearances in DD/AKA:JJ before his own show kicks off.

I am really excited for Daredevil. He has always been one of my favorites and don't even get my started about that abomination that was the movie...

I enjoyed the Directors Cut, but... <shrug>

I enjoyed the Directors Cut, but... <shrug> I think we've talked about this before, but yeah... I didn't hate Daredevil on the level that most people seem to have. I actually felt that there were a fair number of things in the "done right" category, and given that it came out long before Marvel had figured out their formula for success, I think it was perfectly adequate for its time. It wasn't great, but it wasn't Elektra or X-3

I thought it started out pretty well, but kind of got off-track after that. The romance plot felt tangential and too cutesy (ugh, that play-fight scene in the playground..) for a movie that starts out so gritty, and the villains never really clicked. I have heard that the director's cut is a bit better, though.
If you look at the most successful super hero movies, most of them don't have big romance plots - if they even have one at all. Iron Man, Dark Knight, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Winter Soldier, etc. They just aren't necessary, and are just one more thing that can go wrong with the script if you try to force it.

The romance plot felt tangential and too cutesy ~TWF Agreed, but then that is my general opinion of virtually every romantic subplot I've ever witnessed (particularly the second part)

I think that's one of the things I like so much about Scott Pilgrim: It's a romance with an action subplot. Somehow that works a lot better.

I been a Daredevil fan since yellow and red.
