I have no idea what version of Foggy they're going for, since he's been portrayed a number of different ways over the years, but that actor has a strong record for playing "slightly goofy guy who might have more going on than he lets on", which is certainly one of the many portrayals of Foggy. Yeah, that definitely seems to be where they're going, which is fine and necessary with the show being as violent and aggressive as it's been in the few episodes I've seen so far. His acting in the first was just really rough, but it doesn't seem as forced by this point (end of the 3rd episode).

Foggy was pretty bad at the start, I agree. Tough dialogue, hard to play the foil in such a gritty show. But he's getting better. As for the show, directing and editing are flat, script is dialogue-driven and not very subtle, but I like it better than Arrow. Edit: second episode was much better. Someone has seen Oldboy! ~TWF

I watched the first episode, and I too agree that Foggy was pretty subpar

I'm nearly done. Show is excellent, blows Agents of Shield out of the water - they're totally different animals, admittedly, but still. Really hope the others turn out like this.

I've actually restarted the binge! My girlfriend wants to watch, so we went back and watched the first episode this morning.

Yeah; there are a few more than I noticed at first. Also, here's a thing: What's up with Carl "the Crusher" Creel being in the boxing ring with DD's father? Wasn't Absorbing Man in AoS, or is this just a different Carl Creel? Nevermind

I wondered about that, too, and came to the same conclusion. Works for me.

Still haven't watched past the first episode, but I have to say I'm a little concerned, because the one thing that virtually everyone agrees on (and seems to think is a positive thing) is actually an enormous turn off for me. The Nolan Bat-movies were "dark" (gritty, etc, whatever your preferred term was). Man of Steel was "dark." And they were also awful, in part because of the obsessive focus on making them "dark." I enjoyed the first episode, but the constant mention of how "dark" the series is is actually making me really hesitant to even watch the rest.
