Well, I've seen Deadpool. It wasn't bad! I enjoyed it, it was basically what I expected it to be (especially since a lot of the movie was in the trailers).
I'll go into more detail later, when more people have seen it.

So, here are my thoughts in more detail. Beware, spoilers! Again, I liked it. It wasn't terrible, and I had fun, laughed a lot. I'd say my spectrum of Fox/X-Men movies looks like:
X2 > X1 > Deadpool > Days of Future Past > The Wolverine > going to the dentist > X3 > First Class > colonoscopy > Origins: Wolverine
A few pretty small things kept this movie from being really good, I think:
1) They didn't go far enough. While Deadpool was a refreshing break from the usual super hero movie, it still had a few too many of the usual notes for my liking. It was an origin story, there was a theme about what it takes to be a hero, it had your standard villain who wants to weaponize the power that the hero has and sell it for money/power, the damsel in distress who needs rescuing, etc. This movie felt weighed down by convention, which is a big nono in a Deadpool movie.
2) Too much pre-powers Deadpool, not enough post-powers Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds is fun, Wade Wilson is fun, sure, but we all came to see the guy in the red suit. Basically any time when he's in the suit and killing people, it's magic - but I'd wager he only spends about 10-15 minutes in the entire movie doing that. I wanted more, damnit!
3) Wade Wilson was basically always Deadpool in this version; he was always kind of insane, always a wisecracking psycho. All that happened to him is he got powers and ugly. I think this takes a little edge off the character, makes him a little too mundane. Minor point, but I feel like it's lost potential. I just think it's wrong to try too hard to humanize him.
4) Not enough Colossus + Negasonic + Deadpool. Maybe Colossus was a bit too much of a ham, but those three had fun chemistry, and they were only together for a very short period of time. Again, I wanted more.
That's basically it. Those are my gripes, and they're not even that bad. They almost all boil down to "I wanted more," which I suppose is a good complaint to have, right? Bodes well for the sequel (though I would really prefer to see Deadpool + Wolverine than Deadpool + Cable, while Hugh Jackman may still be willing to don the claws one more time?)
I'd like to give a big shout-out to the opening credits. They got the audience laughing instantly, and really set the ridiculous tone for the movie, which was important. Great idea, whoever thought of that.
Also, Gina Carano is mega hot. <3 Damn.
EDIT: OH YEAH! One pretty significant point I want to add in this movie's favour: It was created on a budget of only $58M. For context, the average super hero film costs about $200-250M to make these days. For even more context, Robert Downey Jr was paid $50M to make the first Avengers movie, and he's expected to earn $200M+ for the remaining two pictures. I think it's fantastic to see a small, fun, out-of-the-norm film like this in the super hero genre. Bravo! ~TWF

Hearing nothing but positive about this so may have to put aside my prejudice (really don't care for the character. At all.) And go see it.

Finally watched it last night and it's pretty fun. It feels a little bit disjointed with the back and forth flashback, but an alternate edition told chronologically could slow the pace too much, so I guess that there was no optimal solution to the problem of having to tell an origin story. Enjoyed it more than I expected after the last trailer (and WAY more that I thought I'd when it was announced) so everything is cool. Maybe an antagonist with a little more weight wouldn't hurt, this one didn't felt fleshed out so it could be properly mocked.

Maybe an antagonist with a little more weight wouldn't hurt, this one didn't felt fleshed out so it could be properly mocked. I feel the same way. I think one flashback would have sufficed, but breaking it up into 2-3 (I honestly can't remember how many, I'm still confused) segments was a bit too much. A flaccid antagonist is a common problem with these movies; among the Marvel series I think only the first Thor got it right, and movies like Winter Soldier largely shirked the "big bad" trope in favour of a more philosophical or moral dilemma (and Civil War is taking that to the next level!) However, I think Ajax and Angel Dust were passably fun, and seem to be memorable enough that people are still making jokes and references online, which is a good sign: I think if Deadpool has a good straight-man, it doesn't matter as much who the villain is. The best scenes in the movie where the ones that involved Colossus and Negasonic, and I think for the sequel they're banking that they'll get the same payoff from Deadpool + Cable (though I'd still prefer Wolverine, but to be fair, I don't think there's a comic book character I hate more than Cable). ~TWF

And well, it doesn't come straighter than a good approach to Cable as that overpowered, always serious, grim and gritty dude. I don't like him (or the influence his success had, just have to look what they did to Blaze back then) but it's probably one of the best straight-men Deadpool can have (although I liked idealist Colossus and his cynic teenage sidekick)

I suppose I should admit I liked the Deadpool + Cable era, too. He makes a great foil, and Cable is made bearable by a less serious storyline. ^__^
And woooowwww, that picture. O___O

Deadpool has just been masquerading as Ryan Reynolds for all these years. Lol he was so perfect for this role.
