History: During the ancient times, it is hard to historically separate fact from fiction. It is said one of the first formal formations of anything representing a group of monster hunters was by Alexander the Great. As he worked to keep a tight grip on his empire, Germanic and Asian creatures were of little use against even Alexanders pike formations, and as such he gathered the greatest heroes the Empire could offer, amongst their numbers included Theseus and Perseus. By the time of the Romans, they had the "Monstrum Venatorum" that were the elite of the Praetorian Guard. Listed amongst their lost of feats is the stopping of "Drakmul Unbirthed Choir" and the slaying of "The Shadowed Death" in the dark lands of the south(now Northern Africa). It is from this "Monstrum Venatorum" that the modern worlds League of Hunters has been established, with its heart based in London. Queen Victoria and her subjects work in concert with the highest levels of discretion as the war with the "Hidden World" has reached a fever pitch. Tales of Vampires in the Colonial Americas, of Greek Manticores not following standard migration patterns and razing the French countryside, of the Order of the Panoptic Eye abducting street urchins in Londons Underbellies. This is the story of one such group of hunters, and what they did to save the world.
Setting: This game is all about Occult mystery, intrigue, and monster hunting in Victorian London(and beyond). I want to state this right now THIS IS NOT A STEAMPUNK GAME, it is however, 19th Century London and players should "obviously" take cue's appropriate to the period when creating characters. The PC's are all members of "The League of Hunters" which is actually funded by the Crown and has a strong alliance with the Vatican in Rome. Look for inspiration in such things as Sir Edward Grey Witchfinder, Brotherhood of the Wolf, The Prestige, etc
PC Creation: Still with me? Awesome! Stone count is going to be 25+10 in challengers. Preference would be for a mostly human cast. Magic is allowed but in the 19th century is becoming increasingly rare. Vampires and Werewolves would not be siding with the League, and I mean like, at all. Some other lesser known creatures could be considered, but you need to work with me on coming up with something compelling in aiding humanity. Mentalists, psychics, Tarot readers, scholars, hunters, use these buzzwords as inspiration.
I would very much appreciate a backstory for any character submitted, WITHOUT A BACKSTORY YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
