Hey people,
I know it's still a year and a half away from being released, but since some details are starting to trickle onto the internet already, I thought I'd start a topic about:
Be warned: We're probably going to get into SPOILERS for previous films, including Avengers 1 & 2, and maybe even details from other movies, upcoming movies, Agents of SHIELD, etc.
So, here's what we know so far:

I know it's still a year and a half away from being released, but since some details are starting to trickle onto the internet already, I thought I'd start a topic about:
Be warned: We're probably going to get into SPOILERS for previous films, including Avengers 1 & 2, and maybe even details from other movies, upcoming movies, Agents of SHIELD, etc.
So, here's what we know so far:
- Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Jaime Alexander (Sif) are all confirmed to be returning for Thor 3. No word on Idris Elba (Heimdall), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Kat Dennings (what was her character's name again? Darcy?) or anyone else, except...
- Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk) will also be making an appearance; I'm guessing he will play a fairly large role in the film, probably spending a lot of time as The Hulk. Considering how things went for Hulk in Age of Ultron, I think it makes sense that he'd want to spend some time off-world.
- Kevin Feige is producing, of course.
- However, we will be getting yet another new director, as Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) will not return, citing creative differences with the producers that made the experience of directing Thor II something he "wouldn't wish on anyone".
- Instead, relative newcomer Taika Waititi (probably best known for What We Do In The Shadows) is currently tapped to direct. Marvel has had success lately with less-established directors, such as Peyton Reed (Ant-Man), the Russo Brothers (Winter Soldier), and arguably even James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) so I guess this decision doesn't surprise me.
- The writers have been shuffled a little, too. Christopher Yost is returning, but Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have moved on to Civil War and the upcoming Avengers films. Replacing them are Craig Kyle (who has written for some animated Marvel stuff including X-Men Evolution, and Hulk vs Wolverine), and Stephanie Folsom. I honestly don't know anything about Folsom except that she presumably does exist.
- Filming is set to begin this summer in Australia.
