Hey you beautiful people,
So, for the last couple years there has been sporadic talk about the possibility of Netflix picking up Young Justice. I mean, why not? The show was successful with critics and fans, and only flopped due to poor toy sales (which I chalk up to them not understanding their demographic). A move to something like Netflix, along with a new business model, would make a lot of sense; and revivingan animated series should be a lot easier than reviving a live-action series (sorry, Browncoats it's never going to happen).
All fans had to go on so far is a few statements from people who once worked on the project saying that, given the chance, they'd love to do more of the show. Then we got actual encouragement to binge watch the show on Netflix to help prove how many fans are still out there. And this week we got some hints that these binge-watching sessions may have caught a little attention.
In a statement that has since been walked back, series writer Peter David was said to have been approached by Netflix about getting the show running again. David says this is a misquote, but apparently a meeting has taken place between Netflix and Warner Brothers in response to the increase in the show's views, which is a very good sign.
Who else out there would love to see another season? I'm imagining that if this does happen, it will start with a small release - maybe in the area of 6 to 10 episodes to test the waters? I think it would be a huge success, and DC needs to keep playing the strongest cards in their hand right now, which are definitely their fine animated products.
tl;dr Looks like we're one step closer to getting Young Justice back, this time on Netflix. If you want to help, load up Netflix and rewatch your favourite episodes, and/or find a friend who has never seen the show and get them hooked.
