Hey, all. I think I may have posted about this a while ago, but I'm not sure. Basically, I've decided to start transcribing the rules of the game (and just the rules) onto a wiki, so that anyone can follow along and play (given how annoying the books are to find). The wiki is at marvel-universe-roleplaying-game.wikia.com. If anyone wants to contribute, I'd like to start with core rules first, and then move on to the expansions (and then possibly fan content). Please note that we should not and cannot use official Marvel characters, art, or items (for copyright reasons), but we should be able to use the general rules, as long as we're careful. Also, while most of the wiki currently consists of content copied all but word-for-word from the core book, I would like to start paraphrasing (and eventually rewriting things entirely). One final thing to mention is that the book strangely always refers to the players as "her", which, while not in any way wrong, is somewhat annoying to me. All of the current articles use the gender-neutral "they", and any further articles should do the same until further notice or discussion. A very large thank you in advance to anyone who decides to contribute.

I'll definitely give this a look, and probably contribute some. The game has been out of print for so long, hopefully it's okay to throw this stuff onto a wiki.

I can give you my 100% assurance that this isn't legal. Something like this may fly under the radar, but know that it's definitely something that would warrant a cease and desist should it come to Marvel's attention.

Apparently, I never set notifications on for this thread. Oops. I can give you my 100% assurance that this isn't legal. Something like this may fly under the radar, but know that it's definitely something that would warrant a cease and desist should it come to Marvel's attention. At the very least, in the US, you can't copyright game mechanics. You can definitely copyright characters and settings (which is why I explicitly said to avoid using them), and even sometimes an exact expression of the mechanics (which is why I've been altering the text of the wiki from the original source), but definitely not mechanics.

Where did you hear that you can't copyright game mechanics?

Where did you hear that you can't copyright game mechanics? I've read this before as well. No idea if it is true.

Apparently it's right; I did some digging on it. Although there's still a big grey area on the legality of using terms like Stones, CAD, etc.

I dropped the project a while ago (clearly), but I might start it back up again. We shall see.

Might be a better bet to ask people to help/contribute and edit as required. Break it down into the chapters and a few pages at a time. I imagine the rules alone (and none of the lawyer baiting IP) won't take up that much space or a high page count at least.

Oh dear! I wonder why. It didn't exactly have much content, but I'll make a new one at some point soon, so this project can theoretically happen.
