I really like the concept of this power, but it was very wishy washy and there wasn't really any mechanics on how it actually worked.
I think allot of the ideas I had could work, but still, there are things I am unsure of. Like the size of the growth increase.
I am also unsure about the pricing. It has some of Growths power, just at a more "random" level, and yet, it also contains more adaptability.
But as I reworked this power, I realized that maybe the Environmental Damage list on the D&R chart could also use some more examples. Like electricity, campfires.... Diseases??
NOTE: I am not sure if the balance between solids, liquids and energy is balanced, so I am really hoping on getting feedback on that part.
Elemental Adaption (Transform Self By Touch)
Cost Level = AN +3
Description
This power allows you to assume at will, the physical properties (height, weight, density, hardness, Toughness, and permeability) of anything you touch, thus affecting your Abilities and Defense. This includes different mundane materials and forms of energy. If the thing you touch has magical properties, you do not gain access to these.
Below are some rough guidelines for some of the basic types of materials that can be absorbed and what effects each stone spent will have. These may vary dependent on what is being touched and the below just serves as a general guideline.
If you havn't placed enough stones to copy the material, then you still gain the bonus's up to the stones spend.
Solids
• Gain 1 Toughness/stone, up to the materials Hardness on the D&R.
• Gain 1 Strength/stone, up to the materials Weight
• Gain the Material Class of the material
Liquids
• Gain a Phase Shift AN/stone with the Gaseous/Liquid/Energy Form option. This functions as a Modifier (it is free and constant)
• Gain 1 Agility/stone, up to the the liquids Area
• If the liquid is hazardous, consult the Environmental Damage to find out how much damage is dealt.
Energies
• Gain a Phase Shift AN/stone with the Gaseous/Liquid/Energy Form option. This functions as a Modifier (it is free and constant)
• Gain 1 Speed, up to the energy's Environmental Damage
• Can't physically interact with things
• Damage what is touched. Damage = Environmental Damage of the energy
When using this power you must touch the subject. If the subject is resisting, you must succeed in a Close Combat or Touch attack.
Options
• Magical (+1 CL): If the thing you touch has magical properties and you can logically benefit from it, you also gain them.
• Multi-Material (+2 CL): Can benefit from multiple materials at the same time. You may divide your spend stones among Solids, Liquids or Energy.
• Growth (+1 CL): When adopting the properties of materials, you may also increase your size based on the Weight and Area coverage of the material
- Solids: Grow 10 ft./Stone for each Weight above your own. For each size increase, gain 1 Durability
- Liquids: Grow 10 ft./Stone for each Area above 2, up to the liquids "coverage" on the Area row. For each size increase, gain 1 Pool
- Energy: Grow 10 ft./Stone for each Environmental Damage above 2, up to the energy's "coverage" on the Area row. For each size increase, gain 1 Energy Regen
• Consume Material (-1 CL): You must absorb at least a couple pounds worth of off the material to take on its properties, making a shard of adamantium in your pocket that much more cherished.
• Single Type (-2 CL): You can only take on the properties from either solids, liquids or energy. Selected upon purchase.
Comments
Its very expensive, but it's adaptable to the degree where it can really pay off. You'll probably want to carry around a selection of objects whose properties you'd want to turn into.
