Ennui, the fiercest enemy of the soul. Boredom can nail your mind to a wall, letting it grow dry and weary, rotten and dead. This is equally true for any sensible person, no matter what kind you are. I myself have been struggling with languor for... Well, it's coming close to a century now. My story is old, not as interesting as some people would want it to be, and utterly and completely irrelevant to the matter at hand. Lets just say that one night I was the prettiest girl dancing Charleston in a club, and the next day I was fleeing from the burning sun. Something about attracting the worst kind of gentleman, I guess.
At least, the decades offer you perspective. There is a notorious difference between knowing history and living it, you know? The view narrows of course, and you can't quite be objective, but firsthand knowledge about a topic can hardly be beaten. My object of study? Gotham's night, of course. It is here where I was made into what I am, and it is here, without counting a couple of exceptions, where I have lived my whole life. Or unlife, as you see fit. My eyes are up here though, I smile because I want to be friendly, not get my fangs stared at. No, I understand, it must be weird, of course.
And if you are wondering, no, I don't hunt people in the night. Not for sustenance anyways. I don't need as much of it as the fiction makes you believe, and I have a couple friends in hospitals that have my pantry needs covered. I can understand that you'll need to run a background check on me, obviously, but I think that not even that friend of yours will object to it. Yes, I know the Bat-Man, we have... a past and an understanding. I would have been on Arkham Asylum long ago if I wasn't to be trusted, that much I can tell you, but do your work anyways, I know I'd do it if I were on your position.
So yeah, I though I could help with that task force of yours. I know the streets of Gotham better than anyone, saw them grow from almost nothing, twist and turn into what they are today. My senses are keen and I'm stronger than any human. There is a problem though, or maybe an opportunity, depending on how you see it.
I'd like the night shift, for obvious reasons.
