The captain's expression changes as Christopher talks from irritation to cool approval.
"I like the sentiment Mr Bradley, but it seems someone already tried that a few years back. The station was originally a hospital, they found the spirit or demon, or whatever it turns out to be, burned the hospital to the ground and as you suggested salted the hell out of the earth. Then a decade or so later some idiot built a police precinct on the site. You felt the result."
She sighed.
"Next thing that's going to happen is someone will build god damn condos over the site and we will all be in for a world of hurt. No, this is our problem and as your first job you are going to deal with it. Call it a competency test. You have a problem, show me how you deal with it."
She opens the draw to her desk and pulls out four packs of shot gun cartridges.
"Take one each, you'll need them. Your desks will be out on the landing." She says gesturing to four empty desks out on the landing just outside her office.
"You can get the key to the sub-basement from Sergeant Hooper on the front desk. Any other requests, go through Lieutenant Harraldsen. As to partnering up, Bradley, you're with Buckley, Raven you're with Rodriguez. I'm not going to baby you, so report to me when you've fixed it. Dismissed."

Cerberus
-This place is filled with memories and feelings of what happened here...honestly, I'm not sure of what to do until we find the original source...it might not be in the building in itself at all...-
Cerberus mentionned. Then taking his share of the shot gun pack, thanking the captain, then nodded toward the desk outside the captain's office, showing he understood and finally turning toward Jade, with whom he would be paired up from now on.
-Hi, the name is Cerberus D. Raven, nice to meet you.-
He said, extending a hand to her. He certainly hoped they would work well together, at any rate, there was a job to be done and he was ready to get to work and prove his worth.

Bradley takes a pack of shotgun shells and turns to the oddly dressed lady. It is a pleasure to meet you Detective Buckley, I do hope we get along well. Now any idea exactly what sort of threat this thing is? He ask as the walk out of the office and he shivers.
He immediately reigns in his defenses and considers for a moment, this is no way to work he won't be able to focus if his mind is on nothing but defending himself. Bradley without saying anything to the others heads down the landing towards the break room once there he searches for salt till he finds the containers they use to refill the shakers. Taking the whole thing out to his new desk he creates a complete circle around it in order to help ward of the pressence. He then looks around to see if anyone else wants one.

Mildred furrowed her brow, wondering more about the odd gesture than the strange request. She took the box of shotgun slugs, looking at them in search for something out of the ordinary. She happily shook hands all around, pleased to be in the company of such interesting people, so she introduced herself properly. "Mildred E. Buckley, vampire" she said with the ease that someone else may declare themselves a doctor or an architect. "Buck or Buckley is fine for now. Never Millie, don't you fucking dare" she warned, not exactly angry but losing her friendly face for a moment.
"The station was a hospital..." she mumbled, her mind back into the case. "Maybe I should pay a visit to the Gotham Library" Mildred mumbled. She had a good memory, better of most people her age for certain, but even if she could the knowledge bouncing around her head, she sometimes needed a push, a nudge in the correct direction to fish it, give it form. "From schematics to newspapers, the answer could be anywhere" she voiced, visibly excited. Once she knew more about the hospital Dyre had mentioned, maybe she could find someone that worked there and knew something else. Bradley seemed best equipped to deal with the direct influence that seemed to be over the building, if he didn't end up crushed by it first, so she would take care of the detective job that some other people may find boring.
Still, they were quite the odd group, so she wasn't really going to make anyone else's choices.

Jade listened to the Captain as she not only assigned each other their partners but also gave them their first assignment. She couldn't help but feel that this was some kind of joke, it had to be one, right? Their first mission was to go ghost hunting and purge whatever was haunting this place once and for all? Her brow rose as she looked away from the captain and towards the shot gun cartridges. Perhaps she was serious.. thought Jade before looking towards her new partner, Raven, as he was called. Jade's eyes sized him for a moment as she looked at his extended hand, he was trying to be polite, the two were going to be partners after all and the way that partners work well is by breaking the ice and atleast saying hello. "Jade" she said in a slightly cold tone, taking his hand and grasping it with a tight grip. Getting to her feet, she walked over to the desk and grabbed her portion of the shotgun cartridges while she walked towards the door. "Lets find out some stuff about this boogeyman before we pump him full of lead, shall we?" she offered as she lead the way towards the only resources she knew, accessing the police database and finding information that she could via the GCPD network.

Mildred
You open the box before delving into your memory. The shotgun shells look ordinary enough, until you look closer, then you realise the shells are not packed with Buck shot or slugs but with rock salt. Non lethal but painful, at least assuming you are human.
Then you journey back into the past as your partner heads over to his desk and starts using salt to create a circle round it. 1945 Memory Lane, not the first time you have visited that address today, but it seems like it's far more popular than normal for some reason.
The memory is vague but you remember hearing of a hospital mysteriously burning down, again just after the war. Some random arson attack. The only thing odd about it was that none of the surrounding buildings were touched, no one was ever caught and then the lot was bought and stayed empty for thirty odd years. What happened after that you have no idea, crime in Gotham has always been a problem so buildings burned down all the time. Of course the lot staying empty was also odd but these things happen.
Then back in the seventies there was a major increase in the police presence in Gotham. A number of empty buildings and vacant lots had compulsory purchase orders placed on them to make way for the building of police stations, fire stations, hospitals and the like. Of course there were a number of private individuals backing this drive and they had to have their say about building design and what not, hence the gargoyles.
Hall of records would have schematics for the building, the local library, not so much what with it being a police station and everything. Hall of records isn't normally open during the night. Not that that would necessarily stop you but breaking in might be considered bad manners. Of course you hear tell of these records being kept 'on line' whatever that might mean.
Christopher
The circle is drawn and a sanctuary created with little more than a bit of salt and a little effort. You can sense the malign presence hovering just ourself the boundary of your circle. Of course you are fairly sure you wouldn't be able to sense it at all if you kept your mind closed off. It's influence is weak enough to be undetectable to the mundane mind but if you are going to investigate having a safe haven is a good way to start.
Cerberus and Jade
You both make your way to Jades desk where she logs onto the GCPD network.
Individual criminals are easy to track down on here but information about the building itself isn't what the system was designed for. So you take a round about route, if you can't track the building you track the individuals within the building.
It seems the records go back to about 1978 when the building was first built. Comparing statistics for all precincts in the Gotham area Precinct 13 has historically had a higher rate of detention suicides and insanity convictions than any other precinct, right up until 2 years ago. You find a report of an incident two years ago where nine prisoners escaped their cells and apparently fled into the sub basement of the building which had been closed for repair some 16 years before hand.
Reports state there was a shoot out as one Lieutenant Dyre and a number of other officers pursued the suspects. Three prisoners were reported shot and killed along with one of the pursuing officers, the remaining prisoners all underwent psychiatric evaluations and are currently incarcerated in Arkham's high security wing. Lieutenant Dyre received a formal commendation for bravery and this action earned her a promotion to Captain.
In the two years Captain Dyre has been running the station the number of insanity convictions has dropped to average levels for Gotham and suicides have reduced to nil.

"Salt?" Mildred voiced, smelling the spice of the rock salt in the ammunition given to them. It seemed that it was customary, looking at her new partner using salt as well, but that was just a distraction that kept her in the present, instead of delving in the past.
1945. Burned hospital. Untouched grounds. Private interests. Police building.
Mildred let herself heavily fall on the chair of her new desk, soon lounging on it once more in her usual lazy cat style. "Something is amiss" she hissed. A vampire, specially an old one that managed to survive for long, was prone to paranoia. After all, she could as well be truly pursued, and it was better to be safe than sorry. Too many coincidences, Mildred thought. Their captain challenging them to find the source of that dark influence on the building when the place was a hospital before being burned in the same year she met her dressed as a nurse? Fuck coincidences, Dyre was up to something and it excited Mildred not knowing what it was. "I need to access the hall of records, I feel there should be some answers there" Mildred commented aloud. "Someone has access to it with that technology of yours or should I just barge in tonight?" she asked, caring not of the medium used if she reached the desired outcome.
As much as they were a team, she was wary of revealing her suspicions about Dyre. It could as well be nothing, and she didn't want to risk it before knowing more.

Detective Buckley, I do apologize for my lapse in manners this building has me on edge. I am Detective Christopher Bradly if you really are that insistent on getting to a library then I would happily have you granted access to my families personal one or I could call the Mayor and have him grant you special permission to access the hall of records city archives and really whatever else you might want. That won't be so much a use of technology but the age old tradition of gaining privileges based off ones exorbitant campaign contributions which could be shifted to an opponent with a hefty bonus for said opponent should politicians decide to be obstinant. However, I would like to request a bit of assistance from you. You were candid with me about your sort of abilities so let me first inform you that my claim to being part of this team is that I am a practicing witch with a fair amount of power, the issue I am about to come up against is I have created this circle to keep the big nasty thing in this building from attacking me, for the second time tonight. Inside this circle, I believe I am safe and can open myself up so that I can actually attempt to view whatever it is but in so doing I will make myself vulnerable should the circle fail. My request as such is two fold first I would like you to ensure that the circle is not physically breached by some bumbling idiot around here. Secondly, should you believe it necessary I would like you to render me unconscious? I cannot guarantee that the circle will hold mystically even if it stays intact physically, for whatever this is survived fire and salt in order to come back into a building that it should never have had access, to begin with, any questions?
Christopher turns from Buckley and allows her to think his request over while he turns to his desk phone dialing the Mayor.

The both of them made it to a free computer where Jade logged in with her GCPD credentials and accessed what she could. Unfortunately, she couldn't find anything on the building itself but what she did find may had been better, perhaps something that would had been overlooked otherwise. "Interesting.." said Jade as she looked over the prisoner files and the rate of suicide and detainees whom of which had gone crazy while being residents here. As she continued to dive into the files even more so, she found that there was an incident where nine prisoners who went to the subbasement. Captain Dyre and some officers had intercepted and shot three of them while capturing the rest and placing them in Arkham for psychiatric evaluations. "The suicide rate and insanity had gone down since Dyre had taken over this place. Which is interesting, but there are also accounts here of prisoners who tried to escape to the subbasement two years ago. Dyre and some officers killed three of them and the other six were taken back to Arkham for psyche evals and.. their in the high security wing? Thats interesting.. I wonder what they saw.. Wanna go check out their stories? Maybe they can give us some more insight on this thing" said Jade as she looked at the screen but was speaking to her partner. Diving a bit more into the information of the prisoners in Arkham, Jade proceeded to pull their files and attempt to find their cell numbers at Arkham. ------------------------- Health: 4/4

Cerberus
Following Jade to her desk, he watch as she was looking into informations. What she found out was indeed interesting and Cerberus could only nod.
-Indeed...that would confirm and explain some of the memories I've found while touching the walls...-
He said softly. Talking to the prisonner, if they could be talked to, would be a good beginning as to what could have happen here. For such trauma to lead in high security, there must have been a good reason for it.
-Well, might as well explain, ever heard of psychometry? My powers allows me to find memories on object, building, anything that has a story, I can read it. The one in this building is quite...shocking...it felt like experimentation went on...perhaps torture, pain...something omnious...what these prisonners found there might have been an old lab from the hospital...might have burnt it down but basement might not have changed...-
He said.

Christopher & Mildred
Christopher picks up his phone and dials the home number for Mayor Helen MacCaskill.
"MacCaskill.... Why, Mr Bradley, how nice to hear from you, though I hear it is Detective Bradley now... Hall of records? Yes, of course, anything to help the police in their investigations. I'll arrange for the night watchman to be expecting you... No, not at all, is there anything else I can help with?"
Mayor MacCaskill is the quintessential politician, keeping campaign contributors happy whilst not breaking the law is never a problem.
Cerberus & Jade
Arkham's inmate records unlike those of the GCPD are only partially computerised. The names of the inmates are easy to cross reference, their criminal records are freely available to GCPD, however only general details are available from Arkham. With patient confidentiality being a high priority most physicians at Arkham keep written notes.
Thomas Floyd, Jefferson Eldred, Jackson McCredie, Manuel Santos, Philipe Hernandez, Carl Shultz. These men were all members of the 6th Cross motorcycle gang. All had prior convictions for things like armed robbery, assault, grand theft auto. They had been arrested following a shoot out with another gang. There were multiple fatalities but Batman had arrived and exactly what you would expect had happened.
They were all hardened criminals, all except Philipe Hernandez who was in on a DUI. When the gang broke out of the cells they took Philipe with them. Finding they couldn't make it out of the station they apparently decided to hole up in the sub basement.
Three officers pursued the criminals down into the sub basement, officer Henderson, Sergeant Harraldsen and Lieutenant Dyre. The gang members had somehow got their hands on a small number of fire arms. There was an exchange of gunfire in which the three armed gang members and officer Henderson were killed and the rest of the gang were incapacitated.
All the gang members were transferred to Arkham's medical wing for treatment but upon regaining consciousness were found to have suffered some profound trauma, however no physical cause could be found for their affliction.
Of the six people, five developed an unclassified mental condition that resulted in bouts of prolonged unresponsiveness even catatonia punctuated by bouts of extreme violent rage. The sixth, Mr Hernandez, was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and remanded to the custody of Arkham asylum until such a time as his treatment could be concluded.

Mildred looked at Christopher, finally seeing what was odd about him. The chatty young man was a prodigy and son of the Bradley family, so that explained his bookworm appearance and worry about manners. Like a broke dam, the one that didn't even say a word to her, now was quite open, almost too naive, but it was fine. It wasn't as Mildred had any ill will towards him. "I'll babysit you, that much I can do for a partner" Mildred shrugged, "but then we'll go to the Hall of Records. Something is wrong with this task, and we could be misguided" she said, sharing her suspicions. "I never met a male witch though. I thought they preferred to be called warlocks, how modern of you" Mildred finished, amused.

Warlock means betrayer or deceiver I to attempt to distance myself from things with a negative connotation. Thank you for agreeing to this now if you do not mind I am going to attempt to focus.
Christopher's eyes do the exact opposite of that they are looking at nothing particular. He begins to take notes on what he sees and in order to share with others later.

Cerberus
-The problem is definitively supernatural...if there is no physical cause...that means it must be mental..or spiritual...and from what I could feel around, it's probably my second guess...-
Cerberus said, looking at Jade after reading over her shoulder.
-We should either head down to that basement, see what we can find...or try to interrogate those..inmates that escape...but I doubt any of them would give us any good response, though it might be worth the try...see what they found there...-
He added, pushing away a thread of hair that was falling over his lavender eyes.

Jade looked at Cerberus for a moment as he mentioned Psychometery. "Interesting.." she said with a bit of concern though her voice would never show it. Wait! He can sense the history of things... does that mean he could see my history and what I've done? Last thing I need is a partner who can't trust me... Damn she thought to herself before looking back at the screen and continuing her search. She could feel him looking over her shoulder as he read the information she found on the inmates and she couldn't help but turn to look at him. "They can still help us" she said with a slight grin, "They don't even have to talk to us, I just need a few minutes with them" she added before she created a list of the names and prisoner numbers, creating a single document with their information and printing it out. "Besides" said Jade as she moved the chair back and began to walk to the hot piece of paper which had just come off the printer. "I'd rather investigate more sources that had direct contact with whatever is haunting this place before we just go in half cocked. You may be able to read the history of a place but eyewitness testimonies will give us a better ground work of what we're up against. I don't want to go down there and then one of us get possessed or even worse, killed and forced to haunt this place for all eternity.
