Jade
You continue to weave the broken strands of his mind back together, expecting the usual difficulty in maintaining a telepathic connection, it doesn't happen. In fact the ease with which you are able to remain here is slightly disturbing, it is almost like something wants you to stay.
Could it be that the mind wants to be healed? Is there something providing the extra energy? What is going on? You try to pull away for a moment and... Nothing. It is like quick sand, the more you pull away the more you are sucked deeper in. Something is very wrong.
Previous minds you have entered have all been sane and not on medication, could that be the reason you are struggling? If so, how does that help you?

Mildred was aware of Chloe being way smarter than she let people think, but at the moment she didn't quite know if the bartender was either being casual and friendly as always or playing with her. Talking about some kind of weird wine and purposefully avoiding to answer if she drank blood, Mildred couldn't close up the case on her new boss. Was she a particularly old and probably powerful vampire or something else? Either way she knew more about the case than she let on, so perhaps it was time to ask her about it. Of course it all depended on what had Christopher learned from Walks With Smoke, a conversation that she hadn't been paying attention for a while but seemed close to finish.
"Always a pleasure" Mildred finished her drink, closed their tab and got ready to join with Christopher and move, still waiting for him to properly finish.

Cerberus
Cerberus walked back with the man and once more, was led trough many corridors, doors and security systems. He took a good loo around to remember his way in order to get back if needed. This place was like a maze. He watched as he saw the electrical energy run around the place. It was always fun to look at. As they arrived near his companion, he looked at her for a moment, then at the man on the other side of the window. There wasn't much he could do right now, it was all up to her.
-So...anything yet? -
He asked the doctor, side looking at her, softly tilting his head toward her.

Christopher
Walks With Smoke shrugs
"My people have tried for many years to speak peace to the old ones, but they will not hear us. They walk their own paths and keep their own council. It has been years since an old one was even seen. Try finding them if you can, speaking to them if you will, but I fear you will have more luck persuading the sun not to shine."
And with that the spell fades leaving you back at the table.
Grandfather grins his toothy grin and gestures extravagantly as you speak to them both.
"All are welcome at me bar detective, so long as they pay der tab at de end of the night."
With that he stands and starts walking between the tables collecting glasses.
Mildred
Chloe smiles and waves, you don't get the idea she was being evasive. More that she genuinely misunderstood the question, like the idea of Joss drinking blood just never entered her mind. Apparently a drink is a drink around here.
Perhaps though that is just how she processes this job. She's given no indication that she is anything other than human so dealing every day with other worldly creatures might be hard, especially if some of them hunt and prey on humans.
Christopher seems to be saying his fair wells after a few moments of silence as he and Walks With Smoke stared at each other.
Cerberus
Dr Montoya turns to you as you approach.
"I'm afraid I have no idea, she has been like this since we got here, maybe half an hour. How long does this normally take?"
If your own powers are anything to go by, half an hour is on the long side of expected, anything longer though and it might be time to start worrying.

Christopher says his goodbyes and walks towards Millie.
I am ready to go when you are.
Once they are in the car.
I do have an idea of where to go next but first I simply have to ask what vampire myths are true? How are you with Garlic? Religious objects? Do you have to be invited into someone's house? Can you be uninvited? What happens if you are?

Perhaps Chloe was just Chloe, the closest thing to the sun Mildred could afford to look at these days, her bright disposition and cheerful demeanor always welcoming her. With a small smile and a sigh, Mildred abandoned the bar with Christopher, who was seemingly ready to go. "Our boss knows more than she lets on" Mildred commented on her way to the car, but Christopher's interests lied elsewhere. Out of that strange place and into their car, he assaulted Mildred with questions before she started the engine. Mildred leaned over the steering wheel and her arms, turning her head to the right to take an amused look at Christopher.
"Some are, some aren't" she said mysteriously, clearly playing with him. "Are you covering your bases in case I'm a bad apple?" her smile widened, raising her torso from the steering wheel, scooting closer to Christopher and almost invading his seat. "I could lie to you and you wouldn't notice the difference" she said, tracing his chin with her index finger. "Relax, most of it is bullshit, superstition unless the wielder has some kind of extras" she said. Mildred didn't stumble upon anyone like that, but she had heard tales of people so faithful or magical that could make myths work. "But judging by my porcelain skin and sinful attitude, you should be able to guess that I'm no fan of beaches or churches" she confessed. If Christopher had been picked up for the same team she was in, she probably could trust him. "Or those Apple stores. I hate those as well" she laughed of her own technological handicap, remembering the face of employees when she entered one asking for actual apples.
"You said you had an idea, I want to question our own boss, but lets listen to it first" she commented, perfectly aware that he didn't share anything about his meeting with the medicine man.

You're correct on both counts.
Our boss is more than she lets on, I had gathered as much when I knew she sensed whatever was in the station however she also had the foresight to try and hire Walks With Smoke before. Personally, I do not enjoy being toyed with and she could have saved us quite a bit of legwork if she had just come clean. So let's go, after that we can see if the rest of my idea pans out, I would like permission to explore it anyway.
I was asking because I found out exactly what this thing is and Walks With Smoke was a veritable font of information, but his magic is religious in nature he sees one side of it I am wondering if there are other sides, to that end I would like to do more research and the largest library of magic and magical artifacts I know of is at my house, my grandmother and I both spent years collecting it and while I am not certain the information we need is there I do not believe there is any harm in checking. I was wondering in particular about inviting you into my home if that gave you some sort of power over me, in order to attempt to mask the question because I did not know if it might offend you, I over asked. While I do not believe you are a bad one I also know that shit happens and should you ever have reason to turn on me I would like to be able to properly defend myself.
Now so you do not go questioning the captain without solid evidence of progress, Walks With Smoke called this thing an Old One, a being that decided to become spirits of the land when supposedly Mr. Somke's people, whom he called the Miagani, came from what he called the 4th world. Apparently, there was a deal between the two but then when others started to settle here the old ones believed the deal was broken, we have some sort of corrupted old one in the station. Non corrupted Old ones are apparently rare beings who are reclusive so contacting and or speaking to one might be difficult but they very well could tell us how to rid ourselves of the corrupted one.
In other words, we know what this thing is and how to beat it now we simply have to find it the Captain cannot complain that you have been investigating her and not the problem, in fact, if anything the captain slowed our investigation down by not sharing what she knew, to begin with.
Christopher discreetly checks the time wondering how much longer till dawn now that he understands the problems with the sun are factual, he also ensures his pentacle is not working it's way out of his shirt.

"You know that shit happens?" Mildred asked amused once Christopher ended his tirade, focusing on what interested her. "I'm barely aware and I'm a bit older than you, so I'm guessing that our dear captain has a completely different view on shit happening than I do, not to mention you" she said. "But don't worry about me, I'm starting to be painfully aware of how many people would queue to get rid of me if I went bad..." she mused, remembering what Chloe told her about Grandfather's request to the captain. Starting the engine, they were headed back to the precinct, seeking more answers from their own boss.

Cerberus
Hearing about the elapsed time, Cerberus had a sour look on his face. He turn toward Jade, wondering if she was ok. He had learn a few things on his own. But he had no idea on how mental powers worked and interrupting her might not be the cleverest of things to do. He knew forcefully doing things did not exactly pay off.
-I'm not sure, I'm no expert on psy powers...but half an hour...-
He said, thinking. His fingers flinch on his chin as he seems lost in thoughts for a moment. Should he wait a bit longer for Jade to be done or should he interrupt her? Either way, it might become risky at any point and he had no other way to stop her but to physically disturb her. Or so he thought...but Jade was a cyborg, hence, an object. It was worth a try, but he decided to give the girl another minute or so in case she might just be on the long side of things when it came to using her powers. After that, he would act.
-Let's wait a little longer...this might just be a bit trickier then she thought.-
-------------------------------------------------------- Giving Jade another round before I act. If she doesn't seems to come back, will do the following.
5 into psychometry, to gain Jade's abilities/memories, to know what is going on at the moment.

Jade continued to heal the man's mind but anticipated the typical strain that would begin as she continued to stay within someone's mind for extended periods of time. Unlike typical telepaths, Jade was cursed with being unable to stay within someone's mind indefinably, in fact the longer she stayed within someone's mind, the more effort it took to keep herself within it. But this time something was different.. As she continued to work on the fractured mind she realized that there was no strain... in fact, it didn't feel as though she was even having to exert herself in the typical manner as she had to previous times. Was it because this mind had crumbled into ruin and required less concentration? No, that couldn't possibly be the case, if anything it would require even more effort on her part but the drugs in his system may be doing something... She could feel something wasn't right. Trying to sever the connection Jade felt that something was trying to keep her within Hernandez's mind, something was forcing her to stay inside it against her will. She had to find someway to keep from being stuck in this mind as she tried to figure out what to do. The telepathic woman focused her power and tried to scan around for something that seemed to be the source of this pulling. ------------------ WS: 4/4

Christopher
You just hit midnight so there are still a few more hours until dawn, plenty of time to get back to the precinct, talk to the Captain, assuming she is there, and then get to your library. Of course searching the library and Mildred getting back home might get a little interesting time wise. But that was a problem for later.
As Mildred drives she goes very quiet for a moment, seemingly lost in her own thoughts. Perhaps she is concentrating on the road, but it’s a look your grandmother used to get when she was remembering something.
Mildred
You jump into the car as Christopher rants, but two little words stick out for you ‘Old Ones’. It’s not a description you have heard in a while, not since the summer of love in 1969. You were at a party and got talking to a girl. Her name, or at least the name he gave you, was ‘Peace Flower’ and she was talking about all the names that were used for ‘her people’. Old Ones, Ancients, The Fair Folk, The Tuatha, Fairies, Fey.
Of course she was drunk, and Seelie, and you never saw her again. You saw other Fey in your time, mainly Unseelie who seem to have a thing for Vampires, seemingly on the principle that they find human suffering hilarious. Thus vampires, especially out of control vampires, were one of the best shows on earth. You learned a lot from Peace Flower in those few short drunken hours, enough to know that ‘spirits of the land’ was not something Seelie or Unseelie would really go for. Certainly the Unseelie would love the ‘driving people mad’ gig but they revelled in corruption. If this is anything this is Wylde Fey and if they didn’t want to be found you would have better luck looking for an individual snowflake in a blizzard. Fey magic was powerful, but Fey are arrogant. They always leave a loophole.
(OOC – At the end of the panel you’ll arrive back at the precinct, assuming that is where you are headed. The Captain does not appear to be in her office however.)
Jade
You continue zipping memories back together, you see the date Phillipe went on, you saw him practically flying home and getting pulled over. An hour or so in the drunk tank and then the gangers busting him and themselves out. He got dragged along as a hostage, and then things went south. They tried just walking out the front door, ballsy, but they got recognised and retreated back down into the basement.
He’d known something was wrong as soon as they got down there, the dark, the gnawing fear, the feeling of things crawling under his skin. The others seemed to be just as bad, if not worse, the cops had come down, not to arrest anyone but to stop the screaming. One cop had died in the fire fight, the other male had been injured, but then she had gotten involved. In his torn and tattered mind she was like a light in the darkness, moving like a hero from a kung fu movie he liked so much.
The fight was over fast and the last thing he remembers seeing was her standing over him, ‘You’ll be alright now,’ was what she had said.
He has held onto that, even when the monster told him otherwise.
And that was the missing piece, the monster in his mind, the horror that haunts is dreams and screams at him, trying to push him into oblivion. The drugs have helped, it gets quieter when he takes them.
The image is too real, too vivid to be imagination, you look down and see the tendrils wrapped around your legs, there is a monster here and it is pulling you down.
Cerberus
Time passes, and Jade is still as stone and so you reach out, touching her arm, and there you sense it, she is inside Mr Hernandez’s mind and there is a monster in there with her, keeping her there, and again you sense that familiarity. This thing is Fey, or a product of the Fey. It is evil, a horror from a time long past, but it is definitely Fey.
(OOC – You know everything that has been in her panels and with a little bit of time you’ll know her history as well if you want to.)

Cerberus
Cerberus kept going, but his doubt had been confirmed. This was definitely of fey origin, and pretty evil. He kept going in the hope of getting some of her powers so he could call to her. There was something keeping her there but was there anything he could do about it? He didn't end his touch, so he could keep his contact with her, but while doing this, he knew this might bring the creature's attention on himself so she could get free from his grasp.
-C'mon...get out of there...-
He whispered.
---------------------------------- Keeping my contact with Jade, hoping to get her out of there by attracting the fey attention to me.

"A corrupted Old One he said..." Mildred hummed, almost driving on instinct, her mind wandering decades past. What kind of trickery was at play? Things didn't add up, and Mildred was starting to not only feel that she was missing pieces of the puzzle, but that some of the pieces she already had didn't belong where she put them. Maybe her thought about the captain being one like her was wrong, perhaps she belonged to-
"Back at the square one, source of the trouble and I hope that home to the solution" Mildred parked in front of the precinct, wasting no time and heading in a bee line to the captain's office. "Darn, she's not here" Mildred said, noticing that as soon as they arrived. But what appeared as a disadvantage could as well be of use. "Christopher, are you against searching Jocelyn Dyre's office since she's a person of interest in our case?" she asked to her prim partner. "Check for any magical shenanigans first, just in case..." Mildred warned. With her thirst of blood sated for the time being, the vampire hungered with curiosity.

Christopher is surprised to find that Mildred is going the same route he was thinking Jocelyn pissed him off withholding information this is exactly the sort of thing he hates about cops, to begin with.
By the book only what is in sight we have no warrant but no to be entirely honest she withheld crucial information from an ongoing police investigation. Or if you want I could call a judge friend her golf game is about as cutthroat as she is, it's an election year signing off on checking out police corruption would make her look good. Now excuse me.
Christopher walks back over to his desk and reestablishes his circle of salt. He then turns his eyes to the captain's office.

IT all made sense to Jade now.. the reason why Philipe was in such bad shape was because that night whatever had attacked them did not leave them but had infected the minds of the men. The memories had flashed before her like a film as she continued to see the scene unfold and the rest of the events had revealed themselves. Looking down, she noticed the tendrils dragging her down finally, looking towards their origin she saw it.. the beast that had been whispering insanity into this poor man's mind for such a long time. Trying to drive him into the abyss of insanity, another mind to claim. "Psychic parasite" she said towards the monster as it pulled her towards itself. With the use of her telekinetic abilites, Jade tried to free herself from the beast's grip and get away from it, trying to formulate a plan to kill the monster before it not only consumed Mr. Hernandez, but also herself. ---------- WS: 4/4
